I’ve been here a dozen times and haven’t rated this yet-what’s happening to me. Neighborhood joint with dozens of guest taps and several of their own beers. Cozy inside with seating outside (bring your own chair). Food is OK but nothing special-this is just a damn good beer bar and a jewel in Austin.

A stop during RBWG 2012. A nice old bar feel inside with a nice sized patio that you can either sit down at tables or stand up. A great list of beer on tap. A nice stop. I’d visit again if in the area.

I went on a Tuesday which had 2 dollar brews... amazing! Especially with this selection. Simply incredible! Nice outdoor seating with heaters even in the winter. But very very crowded and therefore people behind the counter didn’t have time for you.

Really nice selection compared to other places in Ausitn. The service is a bit more spotty. Regulars definitely get more friendly service than new faces. Also the dart boards are located right next to the patio entrance making for a very dangerous situation when mixed with beer. Overall a nice place, but not as welcoming as other places.

Hands down my favorite place to get a beer in Austin. They have one of the best selections in town, and with a much better atmosphere than you find at other places in town. It seems that this is where the real beer drinkers go to drink (or work, for that matter). I always said, "all the beer, none of the ’tude". The service is much friendlier than the Gingerman, and about 6000% more knowledgeable than the average staff at Flying Saucer. The only thing you have to get used to is the line to get a beer, which is much more democratic than most bars, but intimidating at first (remember that the line moves fast!). Beer selection is solid, especially for Texas where it is hard to get certain delights. They have a great draught selection, including several of their own (none of which ever disappoint, but also which aren’t likely to blow your mind). Prices are totally reasonable, and they often have nightly specials. If you are really smart, bring your lawn chair and park it outside next to your car, dog by your side and beer in hand. That’s the good life.

Great place, nice dark atmosphere inside and a nice patio. Big tap selection, although they were a bit light on stouts when I visited at the end of November. Only drawback: the bathroom was smelly like an outhouse, I wonder if it ever gets cleaned. Love the place but will avoid using the "facilities" there.

Good atmosphere, tons of beer and always changing. Good prices. Not much for food though

My favorite beer bar in Austin, and my 2nd favorite place in the city. Only food I’ve ever had left a little to be desired, but the beer selection is exquisite. The place is super homey and a great watering hole for friends.

Probably the best beer bar in Austin. There are some places that have more selections, but not better selections. People gripe about the service, but I’ve never had anything but good experiences here. Must visit while in Austin.

Pros: One of the best tap selections in Austin Reasonable prices Their own selection of house brews, made on-site Feels like a friendly, old-style pub A beer lovers hangout Cons: No waiters and the line at the bar is often long, even on off nights The food is extremely limited and sometimes not available. Eat before you go. Overall: It’s a personal favorite and one of my default selections if someone wants to meet for a beer.
