| Munkky (14), , Denmark | | May 25, 2012 A cozy little place in Brooklyn. Not so many taps but the beer was really good. The bottle list contains some really good things But there are many other places in NY that is better | | blipp (68), Newark, New Jersey | | May 24, 2012 Small but well selected draft list. Great bottle list that is way out of my price range. Awesome outdoor patio area. Cool place to hang out, but there are other places in the area I’d rather spend my money. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | April 24, 2012 Fun spot. Came here with my buddy Amos. Had a few I hadn’t tried on tap and a pretty good bottle list. Wish they had more lambics in the cellar. Good service, nice beer garden out back. Nice neighborhood bar. | | craftycarl21 (59), Washington, Washington DC | | March 25, 2012 Finally got here with my wonderful girlfriend and her sister, who lives in Williamsburg. Classic beer bar on the less classy end of the spectrum; not so clean bathrooms, a touch grungy, going for that hipster feel (not in a bad way) as opposed to something like Ginger Man or Churchkey. 6 taps but very well selected; when I was there they had Beer Geek Breakfast, two beers from Kuhnhenn including an excellent DIPA, Weihenstephaner Hoplosion, 21st Bitter American, and Southampton Abbot 12. Bottles are good but only two that you couldn’t find retail; Lou Pepe Kriek ’08 ($55) and Norrebro Little Korkny ’06, which I asked for and they ended up not being able to find. Bartenders were nice but not particularly engaging or inviting, though I’m not going to judge the entire place for that one night in terms of service. Still definitely a worthy destination, but maybe not a place where you can spend the entire afternoon/evening parsing through the draft and bottle lists like some other world-class establishments. | | brystmar (10), Brooklyn, New York | | January 17, 2012 If you love sours, this is the place to visit. Fantastic selection revolving mainly around Belgians, rare Scandinavian beers, and sours. But it will cost you dearly: this is among the most overpriced beer bars I visit. I do stop in from time to time but often find myself not wanting to shell out ~$40 for a bottle that catches my eye. Really happy to live nearby though! | | cpetrone84 (34), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | January 12, 2012 Decent selection, seems really busy and the service is the most friendly. Prices are high, very rustic feel, tight and neat wood work. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | January 9, 2012 Very underwhelmed sadly. Hard to find without a sign. Hole in the wall place. Cozy/homely atmosphere. Not very crowded, with a strange collection of people. Only 6 taps of pretty standard stuff. Good bottle selection, but I generally don’t go to beer bars looking for bottles. Service and prices were both decent. Didn’t try the food. They had a beer engine, but nothing was pouring. To be honest, I’d be happier across the street at Fette Sau. | | Chaseman (17), Massachusetts | | January 3, 2012 Was in NYC for New Year’s Eve and decided to check this place out while we were in Brooklyn. Luckily I had read enough about it to be able to spot it as it is virtually unmarked, and despite reading so much hype, went in with subdued expectations. We arrived just about as it was opening, so seating wasn’t an issue and the service was quick. Noticed some Cantillons on the board, but they were out, so I went with the Evil Twin Before, During, and After Christmas on tap. Since it was mild out (Dec. 31!) we have a beer out back in their spacious beer garden, which was very cool. We then returned inside to find the place starting to fill up, so we grabbed a table inside and shared a cheese plate. The cheese and beer was good and the overall atmosphere was pretty cozy despite being so obscure. Although they only had 6 or so taps, they were all pretty solid, and their bottle selection was pretty varied as well. Not sure if I will ever be in the Brooklyn area again, but if I am, Spuyten Duyvil will be on my list of places to visit. | | IPFreely (143), Sanborn, New York | | December 9, 2011 Stopped in about a month ago. Pretty beat up feel to the place, which I like. The place has a great vibe to it. Bartenders definitely knew their stuff, but weren’t the friendliest I’ve ever come across. Small draught list, but the beers were well chosen. Bottle list is pretty extensive and fairly expensive, but I knew that going in. Solid atmosphere and beer list make it totally worthwhile. | | RyanBflo (20), New York | | November 16, 2011 Stopped in for a quick beer. A great little space with a decent draught list but an impressive bottle list. |
