| bmerz (61), New York | | February 28, 2012 I lived around the corner from this place for years. Very nice staff and but just OK beers. I understand the place in scene and that is valid but I am baffled why they get such good ratings....some kind of herd mentality perhaps. The ambience and food are not inviting. Prices are average. | | hbmason (20), Shoreline, Washington | | February 17, 2012 13 different taps of all beers brewed on the premise made this place a treat. Food was ok. A nice big bar. | | johnnnniee (50), Bedford, New Hampshire | | December 9, 2011 I’ve been to the CBC a few times but never sat down to write a review until now. Being from out of town I just don’t know my way around well enough, and I seem to circle around a bit befuddled until I spot the building. Parking on the street always seems non existent, luckily there is a parking garage near the cinema and they will validate as well. Some seating outside in the nicer weather, decent sized open square of a main dining room with mad acoustics makes the space seem loud and alive when occupied. This last time found about 10 brews on tap with a dry hopped porter on cask, 2 ipa’s, golden, cream ale, amber, RIS, sour, pumpkin, belgian pale, tripel. The brews I had were great, as were my brothers. A limited amount of meat and potatoes pub grub with more of a focus on local chef inspired dishes. Service has always been prompt and attentive. Prices are in line with the surrounding area which means they are higher that you’re used to if your from elsewhere. I really enjoy the CBC, I’ll be back soon. | | thornecb (43), Marblehead, Massachusetts | | December 1, 2011 Large industrial-type building a short walk from Kendall Square. Outdoor seating in the summer with tables dominating the front of the room and a large bar in the middle. Blonde wood dominates the decor. Service is attentive and knowledgable. Usually a good selection of standard Cambridge brews along with rarities and one-offs. Food is good, enjoyed the veggie burger. Overall a good value for the beer, but a little pricey on the food. | | foamyhead (17), California | | November 27, 2011 One of Boston’s best spots. Everything is very good to great here. Few things are outstanding but I like the cool vibe and boho feel of the space. I like their beers but they don’t have too many on tap, or at least they didn’t when i was there. | | Indra (64), Overland Park, Kansas | | November 3, 2011 Stopped in late on a Saturday night. Cool, artsy decor and semi-dim lighting. Pretty good selection of Cambridge beers on, certainly more than one that I wanted to try. Service was above average and menu items were fairly diverse and tasty. A bit hard to find, since its only very briefly visible from the road, but read the directions on the web site carefully and you should have no problem. My wife and I enjoyed our visit here. | | tderoeck (93), Gent, Belgium | | October 27, 2011 We went there for brunch. We walked in 10 minutes early, but were not admitted into the place. I don’t know if it’s common, but I felt like a child, waiting outside for the clock to strike 11. Beer menu was pretty limited I thought. We went with friends, so with my flight and the 3 others each getting a different beer, we had all of the available beers. Did get to try the Cérise Cassée, and a good thing, cause the rest was pretty mediocre (except for the Charles River Porter). The food was pretty boring and blunt. I had eggs, sausage and toast, my wife had the frittata. Our friends made a better choice though, they enjoyed the eggs benny and ... I forgot. Whatever. If you’re going somewhere for lunch or dinner, it might as well be this place, but I wouldn’t call it a beer destination. | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | October 18, 2011 Came here after Belgian Beer Fest with a bunch of folks, including a friend of a friend, who happens to be painted on the mural there. It was a Saturday night, and we had arrived after the kitchen closed, so we only stayed for a couple of beers. All of the beers were good, and the service was even better. And I got the feeling it wasn’t just because we were there with a VIP, but because that’s how they are. Large open spaces, enough lighting to actually see things (a problem I have with a lot of bars and brewpubs). Tons of places to visit in Boston, but this is one I plan on coming back to again. | | lushawn (164), Boston, Massachusetts | | June 2, 2011 2pm weekday lunch out on the patio. 5-6 people at the bar inside, we were the only costumers on the patio. though we were told the place gets packed by 6pm. food was pretty good. would eat again. local ingredients, everything tastes fresh. beer was solid. $2 for sample of any of the 10 beers on the menu. will return. | BeerBeggar (4), Kansas does not count - explanation | | May 23, 2011 First, shout out to Ryan for all of the great suggestions about bars to visit and must have beers around Boston. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the current selection and was able to answer questions without hesitation. The ambiance was nice, but average. The brewing equipment is visible, but other than that it seems just like another restaurant. Thats ok though... you don’t go here for the ambiance --- quality of the beer and the food are tops here. I had a flight of 6 brews, and the pricing was reasonable. Their selection was pretty good, though we just missed out on the Sgt. Pepper and a couple of others we had hoped to try. In the 6 that were tried, there was not one that I wouldn’t order again --- though the Bad Knees was my favorite. Also, try the ice cream! |
