84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 KyotoLefty (350) Kyoto, Japan | May 8, 2013 This is a sake bar. They have only one beer on tap, Yebisu. But they have a ton of great craft sakes from all over Japan. There are several tasting flights to choose from, ¥1,000-1,200 for three. They get really great stuff in here. Try the Sookuu and
Born especially. They speak English well and welcome foreigners. Really an accessible and comfy place if you want to try lots of great sakes--best I know in Kyoto. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 TimE (216) Tokyo, Japan | October 8, 2012 The place rocked. A youth hostel with a very stylish sake bar on the 1st floor. Very modern, but done in a traditional Japanese manner. Sake was awesome. I asked for the 1000 yen three set sampler of something sweet and funky. What I got was waaaay funkier than expected, but truly awesome awesome rare sake. Staff speak English, are friendly and can offer suggestions. If you don’t mind staying in a hostel, this place is the perfect place for a tourist to stay in Kyoto. In, or near, Gion district. Top-shelf all the way. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 nate2g (443) Boomtown! / Waikato, New Zealand | July 3, 2012 What a fantastic place. Come here to get your sake drinking on. Staff were brilliant making recommendations of the more obscure sake’s. Wonderful bar. |
