| NachlamSie (358), Tennessee | | October 30, 2011 I finally got to get in here and try the barbecue. It’s been a long time coming. I like the ambiance in here. It’s rustic and crazy. Very Asheville, basically. The beer selection is good. It would be above average, except that this is Asheville we’re talking about so it’s actually quite par for the course. You can go basically anywhere in this town and find good beer. Do not make a trip specifically for beer. On to the food: the sides and sauces are absolutely top notch. The pulled pork was very good, smoky and tender. The ribs, however, leave something to be desired. They are baby backs which just don’t hold up in the smoker like a solid set of spare ribs can. I guess some people like a good bark on their ribs, but these were dried out. Barbecue is something of a religion, and I firmly believe in a complete half or full rack with a smoky outside and a very juicy inside. These just didn’t fit the bill. But I digress, the point is, this isn’t a special beer destination considering the city it’s in. There are dozens with a superior selection. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | August 26, 2011 They have several local brews on tap with BMC and highland in the fridge. I enjoyed the Highland black stout that I had. The location is refurb concrete building chic with lots of stickers and signs promoting Q and craft beer. The barbeque is above average. The sides are good, but overly influenced by the NC vinegar style.
| | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | August 26, 2011 Has the ambience of your shady uncle’s trailer which is to say it looks and feels like a barbecue restaurant should. The barbecue is immaculately prepared and they offer 4 different sauces. From a craft beer perspective they have 7 taps, all of them local craft. The one drawback is their refridgerating the glasses. |
