ralphdot (5), Billingham, England does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2009 [ Updated November 20, 2009 ] Their bar now has a better selection of beers in 2009, and is a great place to drink outside, by the canal. | | rutilius (11), , Italy | | October 31, 2009 Nice beer shop in very futuristic ambience. | | jfb (18), Weihenstephan, Germany | | September 13, 2009 This shop was quite nice, with a good selection of beers, nicely displayed and with matching glassware. The problem here is that it’s quite pricey, you could go to any pub in Bruges and not pay significantly more for any beer you could get here. And it closes ridiculously early. | tomer (5), Rishon Le Zion, Israel does not count - explanation | | August 5, 2009 extremely central, just south of markt and the selection is impressive but the place feels overly oriented towards tourists and the prices are accordingly expensive, most of what i saw there were much cheaper elsewhere. | | ggaughan (11), Philadelphia, Luxembourg | | September 20, 2008 My wife and I visited this shop while on a holiday trip to Bruges. I wasn’t aware that this place existed but we found it quickly as we stayed at the Hotel Erasmus right next door.
This store doesn’t really have the feel of a good beer store but rather a nigh end gourmet store or something more like that. The selection more than makes up for the trendiness of the place.
There are several different beer gift sets and other worthwhile items when you walk in the door, including some Westvleteren behind the checkout counter. At the time we were there, there was also a large selection of Rochefort magnums.
As you make your way into the heart of the store there are more beer gift sets and some mainstream beers but the real treats are downstairs where there are about 6 or 8 large rows of beers and glasses. Although I don’t know the total number of bottles, I would estimate it is more than 200 or so. There was a nice selection of lambics and other Belgian ales to choose from but overall I didn’t see much that was hard to find or very rare but that doesn’t mean that their selection is not impressive. The prices seemed reasonable and it was not busy when we were in there which was a welcome change from pretty much everywhere else in Bruges.
Although I didn’t see them working, I believe they also had a selection of 3 or so beers on tap.
| azlondon (8), Fribourg, Switzerland does not count - explanation | | September 16, 2008 Very central, and (as mentioned by others) Modern. You get more of a beer-display feeling in the basement than a beer-shop feeling. But they have a good selection, though it seemed a bit more expensive than other shops. Didn’t buy anything from them in the end. | | shrubber85 (59), Wallhalben, Germany | | July 11, 2008 The most modern and spread out of the Brugge beer stores - had other Belgian products that help me coax my wife in. Have to say this was my least favorite store but when it’s a 3 minute walk from the Bottle Shop and the market, why wouldn’t you check it out. | | beastiefan2k (108), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | June 4, 2008 One could say this place is clean and modern while others could say it is cold, its probably both. I was impressed first b/c it was so different then all the other bottle shops in Belgium but it had none of the warmth of those places. Selection had what I considered the standard good store stuff but nothing others did not. Snacks/teas for sale which were cool but pricey. Had a crate of Westy 6 in a cabinet for all to see but they were not for sale, what a fuckin bitch thing to do. This would be the one beer store you could skip in Brugge if short on time. | | bhensonb (287), Woodland, California | | May 28, 2008 They have a lot of good beer. It is attractively displayed. Worth entering just to view the beauty of well shelved great Belgian beers. | | JoeinUccle (138), Brussels, Belgium | | January 8, 2008 It’s a large and meandering shop with a surprising beer selection, focusing on regionals. Also features various snacks, chocolates and other goodies. Prices are a touch high, but not out of the reach of most tourists. Lots of glassware. Definitely worth a look around when you’re in Bruges. |
