| Aquilo (14), California | | November 11, 2009 I love the cafe feel here. I’m never comfortable at the bar, and I love to sit at the window and people-watch, so the layout is perfect for me. Food is excellent but overpriced. Beer is good, not great. I expect better for the price. I will definitely be back to try more of their beers. But I can’t afford to come here too often. | | miketd (36), Cleveland, Ohio | | August 22, 2009 Nice place. Decent food and beer. Friendly staff. Went on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded... seemed like mostly locals. | larryLSB (6), La Selva Beach, California does not count - explanation | | August 9, 2009 Friday, August 7, 2009, before the Giants - Reds game. Got there around 4, stayed till 6. This place really fills up before a game. Had beers outside in the beer garden, and then had dinner before heading out. Service was good for a Friday game night, and the food was above average. The beer is much better on tap than what they sell in the cans IMO. You are much better spending your money here than at ATT! Cheaper better beer and food. The Black is Back IPA was our favorite. They will put a sampler together if you ask, not sure on the price. We saw several people getting them at the bar.
The place is open, loud, but hey, it is a brewpub.Service was good, and staff was knowledgable. | | KyotoLefty (131), Kyoto, Japan | | August 1, 2009 Stopped in for a couple one afternoon. Nice feeling, good beers. Not a huge selection but enough to keep one interested. Would like to go back in the evening for a few more. | | AlabastorJones (10), San Francisco, California | | July 20, 2009 I’m an architecture nerd and I love the exposed structure and tall ceilings. The ambiance is perfect, my favorite place to hang out is in the loft. I haven’t had the food so I can’t testify on that. The beers tend to be awesome, which makes is really what makes it fun. Great service every time I’ve been there. All this and a piss trough to boot! I really like this place a lot, it’s only downfall are the steep prices and difficult to hit happy hours.
| | JohnC (99), Mission Viejo, California | | July 10, 2009 I visited this place during RBSG with kp and beastiefan2k.
Good food, good beer, the parking sucks. The meters were about $1.50 per hour, IIRC. At any rate, it’s definitely worth going to for the food & beer | | ajm (161), Los Angeles, California | | July 6, 2009 Really pretty set-up like a little brother of Stone. Good area of San Fran as well. Service is great. Beer covers many styles but was very summer-styled when I went. Parking is kind of a ho. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 1, 2009 We went there on a Thursday night and it was almost empty, so the atmosphere was not at its best. Otherwise, I think the atmosphere could become interesting with more people in. Still, I was quite let down as I considered this place a must in SF and on a California scope, what I drank there was well under average. 75 IBU IPA was completely straightforward, had little aroma and little bitterness. The prices were also more expensive than most and I have little to say about the service since we had to go at the bar and no talk was involved. | | wilsomb (29), State College, Pennsylvania | | June 26, 2009 This was a little disappointing. The food is good, but the beer is nothing special. There is also no sampler. Come if you’re in the area, but there are better places not too far away. | rko133 (1), Clarkston, Georgia does not count - explanation | | June 22, 2009 Cool place, nice looking restaurant with the brewing equipment visible in the back. I went with a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their food. The watermelon wheat was good, as was the Brew Free or Die IPA. My main complaint was with the beer sampler. It was 6 beers and a cider of some sort. When we received the bill, we discovered the sampler cost $21.00! The server never mentioned the price and it wasn’t on the menu, plus half the beers weren’t even made by 21A. One of the beers, the 21A IPA, wasn’t available on tap, they only had cans of it. The waiter also brought us our check without even asking if we were ready to leave, or wanted any more beers or dessert. We would have stayed longer, but decided to leave. |
