| Radek Kliber (72), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Poland | | April 4, 2012 Medium sized place more of high end resto-pub. Service was simply excellent, top notch justified somewhat higher prices. Food was well made (had lamb pasta). Must visit. | | Jow (59), New York | | April 1, 2012 Came here for dinner with the wife, been trying to get down here since it opened. Cool decor and our waiter was terrific. The food was fantastic and I thought beer was above average. A great addition to NYC beer scene, I’ll be back to try some of their bottlings | | Slipstream (59), | | February 4, 2012 Now here is something NYC needs: a gastrobrewpub, i.e. a place that makes its own beer and serves high quality food. 508 is tucked away in an easy to miss corner of Soho. The ambience is clean, modern, and attractive. There was a bright, sexy lady behind the bar the evening I was there, and a decent-sized, lively crowd. They have around 6 brews on tap, all their own, and a few in bottles. The staff was helpful and allowed me to have samples and extra bread, et cetera, which helped to make up for the New York prices. They have a good-sized menu with a range of items, not pub grub, but more of a quality restaurant style. They seem to cook with a lot of milk and cheese, not my favorite, and there are some small plates available - I enjoyed a very nice bowl of mussels in a rich broth. I look forward to dropping by again. | | gnoff (200), Göteborg, Sweden | | February 2, 2012 Visited shortly after it opened on Saturday January 28, 2012. Cosy and nice place. Tried a sample version of their draught beers, then shared the bottles available with my mate. All beers were from fair to nice, well balanced and well made. Asked if we could see the brewery equipment before the rush hour started, and was treated to this by our very nice and knowledgable bartender. Did not eat, but seemed to be a very popular place for both food and beer among the locals, I liked this place a lot and will return next time I visit NYC! | | MesandSim (34), London, England | | February 1, 2012 Staff didn’t seem happy we were giving them something to do. Apart from the girl who was nice. The two guys didn’t even know which beers they were serving. One of them marched over and very snottily pointed at the wit in our flight and told us it was the IPA as we had just asked for one because there clearly wasn’t one in our flight. Then an IPA came out that was clearly another beer in our flight that had been described as a winter ale. When we said we already had one and didn’t want it he took it away along with another random beer that we had in our flight that we had to shout him to bring back. He seemed most freaked out by the situation and eventually returned it after he’d had his fingers all in it. Lovely. Oh and the glasses were dirty as hell. Each one was covered with clingy bubbles on the inside. Utter shambles, bad beer and if they cant clean their glasses properly, I wouldn’t fancy eating here. We couldn’t get out quick enough. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | January 8, 2012 This is a beautiful place for sure and has lots going for it. The beers are quite decent but damned are they expensive! 16$ for 6 X 4 ounces...come on guys! But what drove me really mad was the waitress. She knew next to nothing about beer. She brought me the beers without any identification, just a statement of which order to drink them (from light to dark)...eh, which one is which, lady? Oh, there in the same order as on the board! The Belgian Strong tasted like the nut brown, the trippel like the wit...come on, identify the beers. Dont let me try to figure it out myself! Food was very good (goat ragu sauce with homemade pasta) but again, it was pricy 23$ and not that generous. | | jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | September 4, 2011 [ Updated October 7, 2011 ] I’ve been here a couple of times. The food is great, and the beer are above average. Great atmosphere with a pleasant staff. | | blipp (68), Newark, New Jersey | | August 27, 2011 Cool little place in SoHo not far from the West Side Highway. Sampler of 6 cost $16 and 2 others in bottle were $7 each I think. Nothing mind blowing but decent enough. Bartender was very friendly, although it was about 4 in the afternoon and we were the only ones there. Even met the brewer, who asked us what we thought and which were our favorites, and told us what he had planned for future batches. So all in all, nice little place, if it was easier to get to I’d probably pop my head in every once in awhile to see if they had anything new, but not the type of place I’ll go out of my way to go to. | | tgncc (49), Bellmore, New York | | August 9, 2011 The front of the place was wide open to the street, on the hot summer day I ventured in. The place had a modern looking decor, the opposite of the feel of a traditional pub. Plus, it was dirty. The bar was sticky, and the tap handles and he surrounding area were covered in dried beer stains. The service was ok. the bartenders were on hand most of the time to fetch another round. The beers themselves are mostly mediocre, with a few relative standouts, like the Citra Common and the Cream Ale. The food was VERY pricey. Gourmet food to be sure. But seriously $15 for Mac and Cheese? The beers themselves were reasonably priced for this part of town. They had $2 samplers of approximately 4 oz. each. Overall, ok to visit, but I don’t plan to make a habit of returning here. | | Indutiomarus (36), Idar-Oberstein, Germany | | August 4, 2011 Nice place kind of pricey but what is not here in NYC. Good beers. |
