Once a bastion of fine Belgian Beers, now an empty shell. I could not believe, would not believe, how poor it had become (so I went again the next day). Sadly, I have to report this is not the place it was, and will not be re-visited by me until I hear something has changed for the better. I shall walk past and look inside, but not go in. Uninterested staff, boring varnished wood panelling and no atmostphere, stale beer on both occasions and so many other fine bars in Brugge to use. I am sure it will be removed from the next CAMRA guide to Belgium. What a pity.

The interesting thing in this hotel-brasserie is the terrasse. In 2010 & 2011, you could find rare beers from struise & dolle on draught. Recently, they had only 2 beers from halve maan; too bad! Nice choice of vintage beers (stille nacht 1996).

What I thought to be a Bruges institution under the hotel of the same name seems to be an okay, modern restaurant with a disappointing beer list the like of which dozens of places have in the city. Undoubtedly a great disappointment, all the reputed taps seem to be gone and so was the bottle list. I’d appreciate an explanatory beermail from anyone who has more info.

This aiin’t really a beer restaurant anymore. No home brew, no Liefmans Ongezoet on tap anymore. They only have like 4 beers on tap and about 10 bottled beers for sale. Friendly guy, but no beer place anymore!

Visited this place last week on a tap hunt, and all of the taps were off - the beer list was about 15 bottles written on beer mats. Not sure what going on here.

When we visited we were the only customers so we got the best service imaginable from a witty veteran waiter. I tried the Alvinne Balthazar on tap and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Erasmus specializes in artisanal beers and boasts a nice selection. Only downside at the time we visited was the fact that a lot of beers weren’t available.

Probably the place with most Belgian beers on tap in Brugge. There were at least 13 draught beers on offer during our visit. And we had the pleasure of drinking some really good ones from breweries like Bockor, Viven and Alvinne. In addition there is a huge selection of some very interesting bottled beers to choose from. The beers are politely served in a modern styled hotel restaurant. A bit strange that there were no other guests than us in the restaurant during one hour in the middle of the day (visited with Finn, 4th May 2011).

A very nice place though a bit over modern, I think. The draft selection was about 12 when I visited. Old bottle beers are preserved. ((updated)) Tom let his son run things. To my disappointment, the beer menu vanished and Tom has a sad look.

Visited on numerous occasions now. Service has always been top notch albiet prompt and straight to the point, which suits me fine. Food is devine and paired with superb vintage beers on draught. I enjoyed a North Sea fish platter with 2yr Orval and a Rabbit stew with an ’86 Stille Nacht. Also the lamb pot with Struise Tsjeeses Reserva was exceptional. Worth every €. (Visited March ’10 and again March ’11)

The lost of a top Beerplace in Bruges but life goes on, 4 beers on draft and 8 in Bottle with a no comment selection :-)
