Nice little bar with some German and Belgium beers. More intersting are the Mexican Craft beers. A Mexican barleywine was on draft when we visited.

The best bar in Playa del Carmen with staff that loves beer. The place has a menu with at presentation of every Mexican, American, German (and so on) beer that´s in stock for the moment. I just wished I brought some Swedish IPAs fot them to taste...

We were really happy to find this place, it was by pure accident. It is located on 5th (La Quinta) and 38th – north end of 5th. We were walking off our dinner and wanted to find a place to have a few drinks. Not really looking for beer bars because we’re not fans of Mexican beers (too light on flavor & ABV) - we’re hop heads & Belgian beer nerds.
We nearly walked by but noticed it was a beer bar so we walked over to check it out. The first thing that caught our eyes was the shelf behind the bar filled with empty craft beer bottles. We saw Stone Arrogant Bastard and IPA bottles but they were not bottles that were in stock, the owner collected them and used for show. It got us in! There were two beers on tap (a hoppy red ale & forgot what else). The bottle selection was located in refrigerators. We had red ale on draft, a triple from Gouden Carolus (Het Anker) and a Duvel (Moortgat). The bottle selection included mostly Mexican, Belgium and German beers.
Miguel, the owner & operator was very knowledgeable about beer and he offered his beers in the ‘correct’ glasses, which we appreciated. We spoke to Miguel and he told us that he wanted to offer more American craft beer, however he was having problems with distribution laws & fees. He was open to trading but unfortunately we didn’t bring any bottles down to Mexico (we have traded in Belgium & Netherlands).
The food selection looked good but we didn’t eat there. We visited this place 3 of the 4 nights we stayed in Playa. The last night we went they were serving an American-style pale ale brewed by Mexican Brewer Calavera, very good! The place was hopping and Miguel was looking to hire another person, a great problem to have. Patronize this place and please take Miguel some hoppy American beers, he will love it!
