Just a place you have to visit.
Rare and special old place in Belfast. Quite unspoilt.
Not the best beer selection, but you will surely find something you have not tried before.
You can also eat upstairs.
Friendly staff and clean toilets.
I donít believe I have not written this one up previously. To put it simply, this is the finest original condition (with authentic remake) Victorian pub in the British isles, which means in the world. Every bit of the design is a reflection of what used to be. Itís fab. The front bit is booze only, the upstairs is food. Sadly the beer is a weak spot. A few Whitewater and Hilden brews but the only stout big G regular. All at a price.
If thereís a quintessential look for a British pub, this is it. A gem of a place. You want to shrink it down and take it home. Be warned, it is PACKED with punters from all over. The selection is cask, real ales, semi big brewery fare. Made my day in Belfast!
This heritage pub has to be a stop on any beer tour of Belfast, not only does is serve real ales but its decadent saloon style interior is a must to be seen. Itís aptly Victorian in style on Great Victoria Street and very handy if you are meeting someone or waiting for a specific mode of transport across the road in the bus and train station. Itís colourful exterior is matched inside by a glorious combination of elaborate designs in the floor, walls and furniture. Seating is a little limited on the ground floor but if you can get into one of the stalls they are a very unusually private place to drink with doors still attached that fully close. Food is served here and obviously prices are a little more here than in other places.
