66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 deanso (205) the Hague, Netherlands | March 12, 2013 Nice place. Good atmosphere. Popular with the locals. Some interesting beers | 52 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 gunnar (209) Sandnes, Norway | October 3, 2012 Small and crowdy cafe, felt like walking into a humid jungle in the middle of Leiden. Beer selection is nothing to write home about, Leroy on tap was new for me. Lots of talaktive guest, nice athmosphere.
Crowdy. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 sic1314 (229) Leiden, Netherlands | April 22, 2012 Not a beer bar per se, but a very comfortable locals bar. Does occasionally get unlikely stuff on tap (never seen Noyon Noire de Slack anywhere else in the Netherlands), but usually a fairly generic range. Nice, relaxing ambience. | 42 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 8/20 Benzai (82) Oirschot, Netherlands | December 31, 2011 Small pub with only a handful of beers on draught and on bottle. Nothing wrong with it, but not worth visiting if you’re looking for anything special. | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 TreinJan (178) Leiden, Netherlands | December 10, 2011 Very nice small pub near Hooglandse kerk, therefore very close to the Bierwinkel. Eclectic beer range, rather well chosen (if only they would get rid of the Jupi***). The very nice tiled walls (it was meant to be a butchery but never was) are slowly being renovated. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 mao (43) , Italy | September 8, 2011 Il locale è intimo e molto rilassante. Avevano una buona selezione ed i baristi simpatici e gentili. Passate. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 shaheen (8) , Netherlands | February 26, 2011 A favorite of mine in Leiden. It’s a regulars bar, with everyone from retired men in the corners to college groups getting silly out in front. The selection ranges from good to excellent depending on when you’re there. There are 9 beers on tap at any time and the staff are knowledgable about them. The prices are great for the Netherlands and much better than Olivier (right across the street). If you’re looking for a place to sit comfortably, this is it! | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 erickok (87) Tours, France | September 2, 2010| Updated February 15, 2011 Old, small cafe in the historic city centre. Offers a nice atmosphere with good looking bar. Pretty good service; they know their beer selection. Besides Sas and Juliper pilsners they had a Saison, Weihenstephaner, Leffe and some others on tap. Bottles mostly Dutch beers. Overall a quite limited selection. Prices are average. Still a nice, yet crowed, place to visit. | 58 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 jbrus (138) Delft, Netherlands | February 23, 2008| Updated February 15, 2011 Nice old traditional pub in a ancient building that seemed to me an old butcher shop. Friendly young personal. The visitor differed from students to elderly people but no kids. Nice tap selection with beers you do not see often in the Netherlands. The bottle selection was small and pretty much standard beers in the Netherlands like Boon. Is this a must see beerpub? No, don’t think so. Is it a pub you should visit for the ambiance if you are in the area? Yes. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 2/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 goozen (54) Leiden, Netherlands | November 5, 2005 Their main beer is Jupiler, and there’s a second lager from Brewery Leroy, Sas-pils. Also De Ryck Special, Weihenstephaner, Maisel Weisse, Watou’s wit from Tap. And some Geuzes from Frank Boon bottles.
Sometimes some rare geust beers.
A cafe in the old centre of Leiden near the Hooglandse Kerk. |
