Tucked in the back corner of a large building, this quaint little brewpub was rather neat. Definite hippie/some college hangout and very relaxed. They do dig the beer and the bartended let me sample a couple before deciding on one. Nice selection of gear too. Good brews and a fun atmosphere; I will certainly come back soon.

I missed out on Old Bongwater, but this was still a very nice find. The tasters seemed to be about eight ounces - which was a pleasant surprise. Clientèle seemed to be mostly college students, and the occasional aging hippie, so I felt right at home. We couldn’t stay long, because KettleHouse doesn’t have the full liquor license and had to stop serving at 8:00PM.

This is a funky establishment that serves as a nice meeting place for local beer lovers, as well as a filling station for growlers, since Montana law limits on-site drinking to 48 oz per day. There is a long L -shaped wooden bar fronting a dozen taps dispensing beers made on the premises. During my visit, about half of the taps were empty but there was still a nice selection of brews. There was decent background music, but it was often drowned out by brewery noises from the back room. The customers were quite friendly, as is the custom in Missoula, and the barkeep was very competent. This is a pleasant drinking place.

May 2007 - Downtown and an easy walk from our overnight location, this little taproom was swarming with a young hipster crowd on Saturday night. This place isn’t glitzy and well polished like Big Sky, nor really concerned with providing comfortable or well appointed seating like Bayern. This is definitely the more laid back variety of taproom, with the emphasis on beer, fresh air and a place to hang with your hippie friends. They had two on nitro and at least a half dozen others on tap. Good beer, good stop.

Great neighborhood brewpub...no frills joint as the bar, seating, and brewing equipment are all in one building. Very tasty beers and often 1 or 2 will be on nitro which changes things up a bit. Certainly stop by if you are in town.

Small tasting room brewpub with a long bar and seating area. Lots of hippyish things and hippy type people. Doesn’t smell too bad though. A decent selection of beer even though we were told was only at half the usual strength. Friendly waitstaff, very talkative and flexable with needs. Decent beers. No food, just peanuts. Follows the 8PM tasting room rule, so no more than 48oz and such and closes at 8. The interior isn’t very upscale, some sheet metal and concrete with a bar thrown in the middle. I’d come back again though, it was friendly enough, but I hate that 8PM montana law.
