One of only a few non-macro breweries operating in Bulgaria. When I visited this place in late 2010 none of the beers I had (four in total) were particularly great, but they were styles that nobody else in Bulgaria is attempting to brew and for that I give this shop tons of credit. (And, hopefully, in time their beers will improve.) The location itself is quite charming and the food was both tasty and well-priced. (N.b. if you come from a Western European country or the U.S. pretty much everything in Bulgaria will seem cheap, especially in middle-of-nowhere places like Tryavna.) This place is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. Tryavna truly is a beautiful town with a real ’old-world’ Eastern Europe feel to it, and it would be worth the effort to visit.

visited this place while working in Bulgaria. Really worth the trip. The town sits up in the mountains and is a very nice town with lots of lodging, restaurant and bar options. The brewery sits right on the river in the middle of the town and serves a small menu of home cooked Bulgarian dishes. I enjoyed a chop-ska salad and steak with herb butter. There were only 3 of the 4 beers on tap while we were there but it was very refreshing to sample fresh well made beer in a country that lacks much outside of the mass produced lagers. This place is also very cheap and the staff was very accommodating especially considering our language barrier. The bar sells kegs of various sizes to go and even filled some makeshift growlers for us to take home and enjoy. I did not manage to make it to Sofia while in this country so this place was my only Bulgarian brewery experience but it was a good one!
