Navy Exchange - NSA Bahrain

Stopped in here while awaiting air transfer to a carrier in the Gulf. Nice to see a decent selection of actual beer, better than most of the region’s State Department commissaries. Fits in well with Bahrain’s more relaxed atmosphere and attitude toward foreigners and alcohol than some of its larger neighbors. I wouldn’t make a special trip to Bahrain if I were you, but if you’re in the neighborhood, stop here for sure.

So, the map is a bit off because I can’t figure out how to get it to list the NEX’s actual location, so just be aware of that. As with any base exchange, you must have base access and be an eligible military or civilian employee to shop here. Having said that, it has by far the best selection of beer in Bahrain. I’ve been here just over a month and have picked up DFH 60 and 90 minute, Red Hook variety pack, Sierra Nevada Ruthless and Celebration, and Angry Orchard, along with some German options, too. The selection at any one given time is not large- they usually put out one or two good options at a time and it sells out super fast since they have a very limited amount. Prices are a bit higher than average because they ship them from the states. If you are getting stationed here and like beer, you can breath a slight sigh of relief since you won’t be without good beer for your one or two years out here. If you don’t have access to the Exchange, I recommend making friends with someone who does. It’s hard to rate this place because if you rank it based on what else is available in Bahrain it is a 100, but in reality, there are only a handful of good beers available here so it gets a bit lower of a score than I want to give it.
