This place is perfect for those who love good beer and aren’t stuffy. Bottles line the bar, and what’s behind the bottles is even better, the knowledgeable staff and the draft towers! I’m a pretty big fan of this place and wouldn’t have made it one of my two beer stops in the city if it weren’t for the insane selection (bottles line the walls from front to back!), great atmosphere, and european style service. If you get overwhelmed with the draft list, talk to the bartenders or Sergio himself, who’s often found behind the bar, about some recommendations. Every time I’ve been in they’ve hit every recommendation out of the park.

no flights or smaller servings than what would fil the "proper glassware". craft beer oriented atmosphere with a tv and a variety of coolers and taps around the bar. service seemed more interested in watching tv than discussing their offerings. decent prices and selection.

I’d like to start by saying this place is deserving of all the great ratings given. I’ve been to many of the nation’s best beer bars, including 5 in the top 50 list on this website and with no local bias this is my favorite. First of all it is a true beer destination - nothing corporate, doesn’t even have a sign outside. 50+ beers on tap at all times - all rare, high gravity, every style (including rare sours), quality beers. Bottle selection is by far the best I’ve seen which speaks to both Sergio’s prowess at obtaining these beers (he is on a first name basis with many of the brewers in Belgium as well as the area) as well as the vast selection this part of the country is capable of obtaining. The Louisville area has become a top notch beer destination in general because of this. Food is very good - great mexican and excellent philly cheesesteak. Don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot - a true beer bar doesn’t have good service in my experience (If you don’t know your beer you won’t be catered to - which makes me love this place). If you are ever near the area and are a fan of beer bars and good beer in general - a must to visit.

Sergio’s is truly an amazing place! This review could go on forever, but you need to experience Sergio’s yourself. If you need help finding the place go to mapquest if you don’t have GPS. It’s a little difficult to find the first few times but you’ll get used to it. They also had (they may still have) great beer specials on some of their nearly 50 taps. The food there is OK. It’s not the best but it has improved since we have started visiting. The only time the food is really "good" is during the beer dinners. I believe they have stopped doing those however. It was a really good deal for $50 something. I encourage you to check this place out! You need to experience this yourself. It is well worth it!

Enough’s been said to describe this incredible beer mecca. I’m just throwing my vote in to shore up this bar’s well-deserved five-star rating. As others have mentioned, don’t go here for the ambiance. Go here for the incredible beer selection and to talk to the amiable and knowledgeable Sergio and his staff. This was my first visit. It won’t be the last.

The beer selection is insane. I went while visiting a friend from college and she got pissed at me again, because I drag her to beer destination get pissed and demand sleep. I had Mikkeller Black on tap and Bourbon County Stout bottle. Both were 10$ for 12 oz. servings which to my mind is an insane value. Amabiance is fine but not exciting (not a date bar, but a beer geek bar). I did not eat, but I heard the food was pretty terrible from the guy at the Louisville beer store.

love the place, it’s atmosphere and of course it’s beer selection. the only complaint: the food. The staff is knowledgeable and full of, er, character. My only suggestion is a pinball machine.
