55 reviews for Sergio’s World Beers
SpiderFromMars (1), , does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 I go to Sergio’s regularly, and it’s a great, relaxed place to go when you’re sick of the typical weekend club scene. The selection is incredible too. | | troycecil (10), , Kentucky | | March 5, 2010 [ Updated March 6, 2010 ] If you are reading this review at ratebeer.com, then you most likely are interested in beer. As such, I will address the type of "exbeerience" you can expect at Sergio’s World Beers. (Yeah, that was corny. I know.)
The first thing you might experience is a feeling of awe as you gaze upon the seemingly endless offerings. There are over one-thousand, and more than forty of them are on tap. That’s right. Over 1000 different beers! More than 40 different beers on tap!
The next feeling you may have might be one of indecision. Be not afraid. To say that Sergio is a capable guide to the beers of the world vastly understates his body of knowledge and amicable way of conversing about beer. A few friendly words of conversation about what you like about beer and he’ll soon be leading you to your next favorite discovery.
Sergio’s World Beers is a great beer bar to visit anytime, but attending a beer dinner offered by Sergio is one of the best ways to experience everything that is outstanding about Sergio’s. Not only are the pairings of foods and beers masterfully chosen by Sergio himself, he is also heavily involved with the food preparation. It is truly a treat for anyone who can appreciate a variety of fine food and drink.
I hope you have a chance to visit. You may find that he has that special bottle you’ve been unable to find for years tucked away, waiting for you. | cvon356 (1), , does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 Sergios is one of my new favorite places in town. I will be showing this "find" to my friends. Serg’s knowledge is extensive.
Cheers, and enjoy. | alexmuckler (1), Louisville, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 This place is mecca! For a more detailed take on Sergios, see www.louisvilleontap.com- the review is on the old location, but we promise to update soon, and in the mean time, it’ll give you a good idea what Sergio is all about. | daroemer (1), Louisville, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 Rating a place like Sergio’s is tough. If I gave it only thought as to how I would rate it for me, it’s 100 for sure, but I wanted to give some deference to folks who may not live for the "dive bar" atmosphere, and/or who want "white glove/tablecloth" treatment. Sergio’s is NOT that, although you will still enjoy yourself tremendously. Sergio’s is an experience, as much as it it a place to get the best beers in the world from someone who knows all about them. Sergio’s knowledge is unmatched, and although it may take you a few pours to get his personality, he’s great to talk to and is as friendly as can be in his own way. He is essentially the only server, though, so when the place gets a little busier at times, you can find yourself wondering where he is. The good news there is that you can practically serve yourself if you are drinking one of the 800 or so bottled beers offered. If you want a pour from one of the 30 or so taps, wait for him, ask him what he recommends, and enjoy. These are the best beers in the world, literally, served in an atmosphere that feels like your friends house (your single, messy friend), or maybe your dorm room in college, or maybe just your favorite dive bar. When you’re ready to leave, you and Sergio go through the ritual of re-living (or trying to remember) your afternoon/evening’s beer journey so he can tally up your bill. Cash Only, but there is an ATM on premise, for when you just have to have another Chimay Blanche on tap. Fair prices (not cheap...fair), great beer, good food (the menu is surprisingly HUGE, and food is served in the kitchen right in front of you), and an experience to talk about for quite a while (or until your next visit 2 days later). I’ve yet to introduce a friend to Sergio’s that hasn’t loved it, come back often, and brought their own friends. The folks who think like me love it immediately, and can’t get enough. The folks who typically want the white glove treatment just smile the whole time, maybe take a picture on their phone to show their other friends the dive they drank in, then enjoy the amazing beers, with the rest of us.
Sergio’s is a CAN’T MISS for any beer lover, whether you live here in Louisville or are just visiting. | aeknab01 (1), , does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 Definitely my favorite bar. Beer selection is 2nd to none. Good brews, good people. All I have to say about the food: magic cheese! | clvand0 (1), Lexington, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2010 Great selection of beers and nice tap selection. The staff is attentive unless they are busy, then it is quite slow. The wait staff don’t know quite as much about the beer and brewing process as I would expect. I actually was told several things that were downright wrong about the beers and brewing process a time or two. There is beer stuff abound, which is cool, but the place doesn’t look very clean or organized. The food isn’t top notch, but is fine for a bar. | jfpython (1), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 4, 2010 Best beer place on Earth. | KYbrewgal (1), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 4, 2010 It’s hard to imagine a better beer bar than Sergio’s World Beers. With a extensive array of rotating taps and beer styles it is a destination for any beer lover. Beer here is to be enjoyed so be patient, take your time and stay awhile. | Chris1216 (1), , does not count - explanation | | March 4, 2010 great beer - very quirky |
