good smaller specialty grocery with a pretty good selection, probably 80 singles, some LA, Port, usual imports, prices were average, food selection was good also

Pretty good selection. I usually stop there just before they close (I work nearby), so service is just the cashier. Who by the way is always nice. Beer selection is good, but lacking the harder to find beers and breweries, but some that I can’t get elsewhere

AJ’s always has a quality selection of groceries, but Jonpol’s attention to the craftbrew section at this particular store distinguishes as one of the best places to find the beer you’re looking for in Phoenix it’s just too bad it’s so far North...

On the other side of a large town for me, but the time I’ve made it there was well worth the trip. Great selection and a very knowledgeable beermaster!

Re-rate. Sadly, not worth the trip anymore, besides the cold storage. Nothing out of the ordinary that you couldn’t find at the better beer store in the area. ------------------------------- Well worth the trip no matter where you live in the valley. Jonpol is a great guy and very helpful. I overheard him giving tons of advice tonight to a newbie as I was looking through the huge selection of great beers. As others have said, have no fear in buying a beer past its prime - inventory flies through the store and the conditions are top notch.

A shadow of its former self, this used to be a Mecca of craft beer but with recent changes, the passion is gone. Slowly, they fazed out their better brews and replaced them with substandard offerings. The wall cooler, once filled by premium craft selections will likely lose space to wine. Sad...it was so close to home and got me interested in the possibilities.

Awesome selection. Didn’t see much help around, but wasn’t looking for it either. Good gourmet food. Lots of Belgians, a good variety of selection. I should have gone here first on my beer shopping rounds. Definately recommend.

The Arrowhead location of AJ’s at 67th Ave & 101is among the best two or three beer retail stores in the Phoenix area. While others may have a dozen or so extra choices, AJ’s has a much larger refrigerated section and RARELY has expired beers for sale. The competition is the opposite - hot storage areas and many, many expired beers. THe beer manager is quite knowledgeable, and you can get excellent guidance if you need it. His tasting notes are kept in his blackberry and he’s sampled nearly every beer available. Tasting notes are available for many beers as well. Many desirable beers can be found here on a regular basis, especially the rare offerings from Stone, Alesmith, Dogfish, and more. Highly recommended.

Having frequented SunDevil and Tops, I do believe that AJ’s Glendale is the best place to buy beer in the Valley at the present time. It’s prices are a few pennies more but you have by far the best chance of picking of those beer that are hard to get in the Valley such as Beer Geek, Olfabrikken Porter and Pannepot(danish) to name a few. The staff especially Jonpol are very knowledgeable and always polite and helpful. Jonpol is always on the lookout and finagling with the beer reps to send him beers that they normally wouldn’t ship to the valley. Also all the beer is kept at Cellar temp, the only store in the Valley that does it with all their beers. A very important issue here.
