Had a great tour with one of the brewers, who shared some vintage smoked porters with us. Everyone we met at the brewery and its outlet store downtown was incredibly friendly and helpful.

This was an excellent visit, and they treated us very well. Full tour, tasting, plus great advice as well. The brewery has a tasting bar/growler station, including a bunch of brews that don’t get much distribution beyond the doors of the brewery.

As taprooms go, the one at Alaskan Brewing Company is a fairly small one. But still cozy and charming. If you can locate it, at the back of the industrial warehouse area (I homed in on the tall, white storage tanks as I walked from the bus stop near CastCo). On the day of my visit, they offered ten beers on tap - including Hopothermia, the Imperial Red (Pilot Series) and the delicious Smoked Porter. All visitors above 21 can get 6 tasters for free, so the place was packed. Visited: 2014-07-26.

As a local, here’s my take.
Its always friendly there. No matter who is working behind the bar or the cash register. The beers are never bad and honestly there are some that are extremely good, ya just gotta find the right ones. The value, luckily, its out in Lemon Creek (close to the Valley), so you’re not gonna get downtown prices. Take the tour offered in front of their downtown location to take you out here. You’ll be pleased. Last thing I gotta say about this Alaskan beer company, remember they put bottling dates on their beers unlike Midnight Sun who somehow seems to get more attention. Take or leave it, that’s just how this stellar company rolls!

Visited in August 2007. I was in town visiting my brother, and swung by here one afternoon. From the outside, it looks like nothing special. Inside, we took a small tour of the brewery, and got free samplers. I would definitely visit again if I was in town. Back when I visited Alaskan wasn’t getting distributed to Colorado, so it was my first initiation into their beers.

Typical warehouse setup for a brewery. Plenty of beers on tap, but most of them are distro down to the lower 48, so there wasn’t anything special on. Nice tour and staff, but pretty basic.

If you are in Juneau, come to this place. They have an open tap wall with FREE tasters of everything they currently stock. They even opened bottled beer (Smoked Porter) for tasting. The tour is just a talk from a lovely young lady.

Visited on a grey Tuesday afternoon in September, we joined the already-in-progress tour discussion in the side room about the history and making of the beers at Alaskan. (Interesting, infused with television clips.) They have won a lot of well-deserved brewing awards, according to their displays around the store, and offered about half a dozen of them at the bar. The bar staff was friendly and proud of the establishment, providing us with multiple free samples of the liquid stuff. Very pleasant experience overall. We travelled to and from by bus (for a fraction of what our cruise was offering) and afforded us a closer look at what the locals were up to. No food, but tons of clothing and other beer paraphernalia for sale in the store, as well as the beer itself.

Decent video presentation, no tour available but the windows let you peek into the brewing and bottling areas. Enjoyed a number of FREE samples and had a good chat with the rep behind the bar. Bit of a hike from downtown - take the bus if you can its a lot cheaper than the cab!
