Best bottled selection in the area by far!

Wow! A beer joint that also serves pizza! Thing is, the beer is beyond awesome! Sorry Al, but you lost points on ambiance due to the rating system... But it really is only because you have so many tables in such a small place. That said, short of knocking out a wall to add more space, don't change a thing! And keep up the good work with the beer!

Used to really like this place. They do have a good selection, both bottles and drafts. Particularly liked the computerized draft beer menu board, which included good descriptions of each offering on tap. But after a visit in which my wife and I were treated quite rudely by the owner, I have not been back. Simply put, I am not willing to put up with crap from a pretentious proprietor that thinks of himself as the beer guru just to try a new beer. Especially not when you factor in the extreme overcrowding of the way too small location and the mediocre, at best, food. Pizza is chain quality, made in one of those conveyor belt ovens. Sandwiches are are run of the mill pizza shop subs, nothing special or distinctive. Have not been there since they began brewing, so can’t comment on the quality of their "Pizza Boy" brews. Don’t get me wrong, if not for the stunt this guy pulled, I’d still go there. I didn’t go for the food, I went for the beer, and the selection is good, the quality as well. They sell enough that you can be assured of freshness and in many visits never tasted any indications that they did not properly maintain the draft lines and taps. Also liked that they offer sampler treys of drafts, so you can try lots of different beers. Too bad the guy doesn’t value his customers enough to treat them well.

Was going here before they started beer, so their food is good by my standards. The parking is awful, but I don’t blame Al’s, I understand it’s the owners deal. The restaurant is small...very little room to move around. You need to come in and find a spot on the side to read the LCD beer menu board. Space is at a premium. The coolers are off to the side, but the table are right up against them, so you feel the need to look quickly. There is a small shelf near the register that has single bottle of some rare finds. They do have a "mix a six" cooler to put together your own six pack. Overall, they have a great selection of some hard-to-find beers...on tap no less. Although the price is a little high, the trade off is the rarity. I have not tried the new brewery, but I’ve heard that their "test beers" aren’t bad. I’ve heard rumor that they are moving, hopefully to a larger facility.

Ambiance is OK, pretty small, but that is not what I am there for. The service and selection are great. Lots of taps, growlers as well. Great bottle selection too, and can buy singles in PA. Food was good...had the pizza and it was hot and fresh. Had some of the beer from the new brewery in the basement. Pretty decent and was only $6 for a growler. Great value there. Will definitely be back.

The food and selection are awesome. Amazing selection of single bottles. Only downside is the parking... I also heard that the owner is gonna start his own micro in the basement.

Not the biggest place in the world, in fact it is downright small, but it makes up for it with good food and even better beer. I have tried just about everything on the menu now and have never been disappointed. The subs are great, and the pizza’s are even better. I prefer the buffalo chicken pizza and or boil. Now on to the good part, the beer selection. Simply put, there is no better selection of beers on the west shore. From the 24 taps, 4 on nitro, to the 3 cask hand pulls, you will not find a better selection anywhere in the area. The mix-a-six for $13 is a good deal if you are looking to try multiple things. They also fill, and sell, growlers with most of the normal tap beers. They will soon be opening their own brewery in the basement making all kinds of interesting things...Simply put, you will not find a better place for beer in this entire area, period.

Don’t mean to give a bad rating but, i came around 5PM on a Tuesday and wasn’t ready for the dinner "rush". There wasn’t anywhere to sit except for tables or booths that were for 4 people (all of them). Once I did about 4 or 5 families with infants came in. Not a very good atmosphere to sit and drink a beer. I had a brooklyn concoction and i dont know if it was the lines or the age of the beer or maybe just the beer but it was terrible. The slice of pizza was extremely greasy and sub-par. I hear they are opening their own brewpub in the basement so maybe they can make that the showpiece. Selection was good though for 6 packs and about 20 beers on tap.

Just had the tiramisu which was ok, but the the pizza is always good. Ambiance is nothing special, but the beer selection is terrific for the area. At least twenty respectable beers are on draft including a few on nitrogen. There’s a whole wall of bottles to mix n match your sixpack. It’s a great place to stop if you’re across the river from Harrisburg.

What a find this place is. It’s in the middle of nowhere but there were a lot of people there on a Sunday night. The turn is a bit tight so watch out for it.. I didn’t have the food so I can’t talk of it. They had over 20 taps and most of them were unusual or rare selections for the area. They do a lot regional craft and also there seems to be some Belgiaphilia there as well. They sell growlers of their draft but they also sell samplers as well. They also have a fairly sizable make your own sixer section. It’s a bit pricey at $14 a sixer but your are getting it 1. cold and 2. to go from a restaurant so it could be worse. The also had a nice large bottle selection including 4 from Lost Abbey which I was shocked to find.. I thought Philly was the only place you could find it on the east coast. The guy behind the counter was really nice as well. I’ll definitely stop back when I’m in the area.
