| Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | May 2, 2012 Originally reviewed: 1/11/10. Stopped here for dinner when in town for a Midlake concert. Just down the street from Thirsty Monk. The place is an old warehouse-looking building. Inside consisted of 2 great rooms, each with a couple of TVs. Little decor, a pretty boring looking place. Not many people there on a Sunday evening. No matter, I was watching the Packers and may have been distracting. ;)
Ordered a flight of 5 of their brews. Each came in 4 oz. pours. Got one of their IPAs, APA, Porter, Stout, and a Scottish Brown. All brews were above average. Especially enjoyed their Pale Ale and their Ninja Porter. Also ordered a pizza, which was stellar! I would definitely come back here when in town and would recommend it to a friend. Great food and decent beer. | | ADesenberg (18), Ohio | | March 11, 2012 Beer was mediocre, buffet was not fresh. The fire escape beer made up for it all though. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | February 27, 2012 Well I had a pretty crappy experience here. It’s a shame as its my last stop this visit to Asheville. The beer was solid and well priced. However the food (which was well priced) was pretty mediocre when I finally got all of it. The bartender/server seemed more interested in chatting than serving and I waited a long time to get food, get the rest of my food (they dropped some on the way out), get my check, etc. I will patronize the other location from now on. | | tmongoose (41), Louisville, Kentucky | | January 25, 2012 stopped in on 1/21/12 after the brewfest. had been to the other location before but this was right around the corner from the hotel. nothing fantastic feature wise typical bar pizza place. had some nachos and salsa both very good. not store bought for sure. the pints were $3/each which is a steal in my book. seen others eating food looked great and i am sure its pretty good. shall go back again in future. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | December 22, 2011 Located just around the corner from Craggie Brewing, this place has a concrete floor and industrial walls. The space doesn’t feel particularly inviting or cozy or intimate or interesting. There seems to be just a lot of space. They have the same beer selection as the other location so if you like their beers great. Personally I think they tend to be a bit on the bland side. Fortunately at $3 a pint they’re appropriately priced. The folks behind the bar were nice enough which is good. The other location shows movies and has free wifi from the bagel shop so I’d probably choose that one. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 7, 2011 October 2011. Made our stop on a mid-week afternoon, a sunny day in October. Was fairly dead. We sat outside in what looked to be an old car dealership service lot, sitting in some nasty old waiting room stools. The sampler was extensive, but somewhat unimpressive, in general. The "nice" patio seating was somewhat less than ambiant, what with the heavy traffic flowing by. Not the worst place I’ve ever been, but not among the favorites I visited in Asheville. (#550) | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | June 4, 2011 Not nearly as cool as the other location. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | January 1, 2011 A small brewpub in Asheville visited on a Wednesday afternoon. It was quiet at the bar, but the tables were mostly full with families and young children. I didn’t order any food but it looked pretty disgusting (buffet setup with heat lamps). It was pretty drafty at the bar from people opening the door and such (there was no buffer room). There were ~8 beers on tap, pretty standard offerings, and nothing much to write home about. At least it was cheap ($3/pint). There was 70s and 80s dance music playing in the background which got to be annoying at times. Agreed with prior raters that the atmosphere is off-settling with a kids party restaurant/diner type feel. I would skip this place for better Asheville destinations (Lab, Wedge, Craggie, Jack of the Wood, etc). | | DukeBrewDevil (36), Chapel Hill, North Carolina | | July 21, 2010 We hung out in the covered patio for an hour or two, had a few pints, and tried the appetizers, which were tasty standard pub fare. They had 6 or 7 of their own beers available. They were all fresh, clean tasting examples of the standard brewpub styles. The cool outdoor games, huge projection TV, and general relaxed vibe are the reasons to come here. The beer shouldn’t keep you away, but in this super beer town, it isn’t a major draw, either. | | aracauna (55), Georgia | | June 16, 2010 The photo here isn’t accurate. It appears to be the original location. The downtown location is much less colorful, although it does have a really nice covered outdoor section with both formal tables and more information bench and chair seating. I didn’t have any food on my visit, but I have at the original location and the pizza is definitely acceptable and the beer was worth the walk from my hotel about a 1/4 mile away. |
