| Gio82 (11), Bad Säckingen, Germany | | April 18, 2012 Typical Bierhalle, with typical and excellent Augustiner beer. Had a ton of Leberwurst with two Edelstoff in the afternoon and Bauernschmaus with two Dunkel for dinner. The portions were abundant and tasty, unfortunately the waiters were quite unfriendly and the whole hall smelled like urine. | | fdomig (14), Feldkirch, Austria | | April 6, 2012 Great place to get Bavarian food and all the Augustiner beers on tap. Prices are ery moderate and portions are hughe. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | March 29, 2012 This is the bar I tend to stagger too, after an afternoon at the O’fest, it is just a few long steps from the top of the Fest Site.
This year was no different, as yet again (26th Sept 2006) I returned to check it out.
Friendly, busy and fine Augustiner beers (are there any other sort?) combine to make this a very likeable place.
Waiter service or served at the bar, no problems, although a bit of German helps when out of the normal tourist areas.
Pleasant decor, not overstated, but very Bavarian. Well worth finding while visiting this wonderful city.
| | SamGamgee (182), down the whirlpool, California | | December 19, 2011 My favorite Augustiner hall. Had several good sessions here while in town. Just down the street from the central train station. One big hall with giant wooden barrels on the walls and a copper brew kettle top over the bar. Has the full range of Augustiner beer at better prices than anywhere else in town. Something like 5.1 euro for a mass of helles. They also have a more intimate restaurant on the other side of the entrance if you don’t want to hang in the hall. Much darker at night than Hofbräuhaus and has a more old-school feel to it because of that. Worth a stop if you dig their beer. |
