BeerandBlues2 | This place has the feel of Valentines Day year-round. The beer selection is less than its next-door neighbor 33 but it is still worth the stop since it is not a clone. Any place sporting a four-year La Folie vertical is cool. The bread pudding is awesome and went well with my beer selection. My recommendation, stop at 33 for an appetizer and beer, walk down to Square One for the main course, and then on to Bailey’s for dessert.

| cellardoor | 3/9/08 - Went back after a brief hiatus. I was impressed with what seemed to be an even deeper beer selection. I was especially impressed with the growing selection of vintaged ales. They had 4 years worth of La Folie, among others.
This time around we had the Bailey’s Brownie, WOW! It is must!
11/20/07 - Probably the best beer bar in St. Louis. The beer selection is quite surprising in such a swanky dessert oriented lounge. They didn’t always have the beer posted in the menu but a knowledgable bartender quickly offered solid substitutes.
The hot chocolate is a must after the first few pints.

mad_scotsman | Great bar with a huge selection not typically seen in the downtown st. louis area. Friendly people and great ambiance

| Real_Ale_Dave | Well, well, well. What a great treat this place is! Cozy, laid back atmosphere, (mostly) good tunes playing at that perfect volume where you can listen if you want or ignore them easily. Comfy seats, friendly, knowledgable staff, and a 65 offering beer list that includes very few throwaways.
The beers are a wide-ranging selection of domestic craft offerings and well-chosen imports. A good portion of the selection seems to rotate, and there are some vintage offerings beginning to appear - I suspect there will be more as the cellar matures.
Desserts and cheeses are the stars of the menu, though there are small, interesting pizzas and savory things if you want to make an entire meal. Everything sampled was very high quality.
Appropriate glassware is provided for the beers, though serving temperature was a bit cold. The latter is a minor annoyance in my book, but I did note it.
A top notch spot, and my vote for best beer bar in St. Louis at the moment due to the quality and breadth of the selection.

SubstanceT | Okay, thanks very much to Beerdrenched for adding this place. I never would have found this place had it not been entered here. Before going I mentioned to many of the people that I was working with for the month that I was in saint louis and NO ONE had heard of this place before. Man are those people missing out.
The beer list is not that large but does have many vintages of La Follie and some other belgian beers, but really you go to this place for the atmosphere and the understanding that if you bring your wife or whatever here you will go so laid after that you will use up all of the up-and down and therefore have to walk sideways for a while. Being that there is some great beer to pair nicely is just extra bonus. Food, drinks everything is just great. | |
thegreenrooster | Walking into this place the first thing you notice is the dark and sexy atmosphere. If you want to take a date and impress her this is the place for you. Very dark and mellow with really laid back music playing in the backround. Beer is decent , they have La Folie 2005 and 2006 bottles and St Bernardus on tap. Their special is all things chocolate. They have about 10 martinis made with chocolate served warm or cold. Plus the dessert menu is filled with sweets that with fatten you up in no time. Decent place in a trendy area of St.louis.

sethdude | Stopped by this place at about 5:30 Pm on a weekday, and we were the sole patrons. Selection was good, staff was knowledgable and helpful. They had a pretty good selction on tap, but the main reason I went was that they had La Folie in bottles for $20. Definitely worth the trip.

Terminus | ok, i checked out this place the other night. They have some very good beers on tap-St Bernardus abt 12 being the best along with New Belgium 2 Degrees below winter ale (a tap only beer) 2 boulevard, 2 unibroue beers, and a few other belgians on tap. Youngs double chocolate stout as well. The bottle selection is pretty good as well-a few cantillon, fantome, vintage unibroue and a few select american micros (rogue shakesphere and two hearted come to mind). The scene is very yuppie unfortinately, but on the flipside, there is no smoking allowed in this place. It can get crowded but if you manage to get a seat at the bar, your golden. 2 more gripes about this place-the beer is served way to cold. I had to warm up my st bernardus for about 20 minutes before i drank it. The bartenders are friendly, but sometimes get distracted, so service is not all that great (at least on a busy saturday night). Overall, i would check this place out and go there during non-peak hours. One of the secrets in the st louis area for shure.
