| zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | May 17, 2012 Bailey’s is a cool, relatively small bar located in downtown Portland. One of the first things I noticed was there are no commercial tap handles, only generic handles with numbers. Above the taps are the 20 selections on flat screen monitors with full descriptions of each beer and an indicator as to how full each keg is. Even though the bar was quite crowded the bartenders were quick, attentive, and knowledgeable. The selection was pretty incredible to only have 20 selections. If there was food I did not try it. Prices were reasonable. Overall, this is worthy of the praise it is receiving. | | Alphadelic (48), Portland, Oregon | | April 14, 2012 A totally groovy and unassuming crowd. The bartenders are friendly and not afraid to warn you away from things. The selection varies daily but information on the big screens is phenomenal. Dare I say it? The prices are fair. | | douglas88 (117), Salt Lake City, Utah | | March 25, 2012 A sort of odd mix of a modern dance club feel and yet board games, chess. A cool electronic board listing the 21 rotating taps. Bottles as well, maybe 50. Great service. Very knowledgeable staff. In a cool location. The Santeria Mexican place next door is awesome. | | maekchu (11), Hirakata, Japan | | March 15, 2012 A great bar in a great beer town.
22 taps (all good and often rotating) and uncountable bottle selection. There’s always something new on tap, even for the most experienced and far-ranging craft beer fans. Minimal attention to decor, but that’s okay --it’s basic and comfortable. Can get a bit crowded in the evening. No wait service; you go to the bar and order what you want. Beers are served quickly. Good, substantial Mexican dishes are available for order at the restaurant across the street (and they’ll deliver to the bar). Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Decent prices. $7.50 for five samplers. Cool electronic beer menu board. A must if you are in downtown Portland. | | Bigsilky (10), Charleston , | | March 15, 2012 Very well lit for a beer bar, very clean for a beer bar as well. Excellent video tap list, very entertaining and informative. Killer tap list, local and regionally focused. Everything available in half pours, and exceptionally well priced. Beer clean glassware and proper pouring practice. Cask ales, very well conditioned and well served. Bottle list has to be the most surprising element here; rare stuff, especially for an East Coast dweller, and very well priced. A must stop! | | SamGamgee (182), down the whirlpool, California | | February 18, 2012 Very light space. More like a coffee shop than a bar, really. I went for the anniversary party at the tap list was killer, including a special sour blend from Cascade. These people clearly love beer and know how to do it very well. Definitely would like to go back. | | raphael (26), Portland, Oregon | | February 12, 2012 Fine location, big windows, and the beer. Always a wide range of styles and brewers, with a good percentage of limited releases. The staff know their beers and the neighborhood (great food across the alley at Santeria). And you gotta love the computer screen menu keeping tap of how full each keg is. | | notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | December 15, 2011 So, the atmosphere here is not what I would typically be into, but for some reason, in Portland, it works - high-ceilinged, faux upscale urban professional hangout - a large flatscreen displays the beer list, complete with style, abv, serving size and how much beer is left in the keg - prices are crazy cheap, with at least 50% on the beers available in 10 ounce pours for 2.50 - flights are also available - servers are hipsters, minus the pretention - they are fairly knowledgeable - they also sell their own logo glassware - focus is on local beer from the lesser-known local breweries, which is nice, considering how many big name brewers there are in town - a great spot - I will try to stop in at least once more while I am in town. | eliidubya (7), Portland, Oregon does not count - explanation | | November 8, 2011 Pretty standard decor, large windows, nice downtown location. Baileys has an awesome, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The best part about Baileys is their beer list. It’s up on two large tv screens, and there is a little keg next to each beer and stats that tell you how much is left. Really helps make a decision on which beer to drink first! | | Newk (24), , | | October 11, 2011 I stopped in here when I was visiting portland. Bailey’s had a simple and laid back vibe to it that I really liked. It wasn’t big, so it was key to grab a seat when you could.
The draft selection was real nice and had about 20ish different options. It was predominately focused on OR beers as expected, but also had in a couple of non-OR taps too.
Bailey’s was a real good place to grab a beer or three and to just hang at for a period of time |
