17 reviews for Bailey’s Taproom
| bvc (18), Kenmore, Washington | | November 16, 2009 I’ve been here about 5 times now since they opened, so I supposed I should let the secret out...although it isn’t really a secret anymore. This is one of favorite places in Portland, and is a must hit spot. Easy walking distance from a handful of hotels downtown, I really enjoy the feel of this place. In a really cool high ceiling brink wall corner space. Super clean and very minimal in decor. Tap list is displayed on a chalk board and is constantly rotating. They do an excellent job of showcasing local and more obscure beers. They offer two different size pours on almost everything including a taster tray. Great bottle list and growlers to go as well. No food and I am not sure if they allow you to bring stuff in or not, but PDX has a ton of places close by. I am a huge fan of this place. | | KyotoLefty (131), Kyoto, Japan | | September 12, 2009 Crowded and tight place in a very central location. No food except takeout from an outside Mexican joint. Decent selection of beers; reasonable prices. Decent place but there were many better in Portland. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 9, 2009 Excessively well located, downtown and across the street from Tugboat, this relatively new bar is clearly aimed at the beer geek. The very large, very high windows put on display the great beers of this world and I mean that most of Ratebeer’s top 100 is represented. You can bet that one of these bottles is on your want-list. For sale, the draught selection seems to be very solid, sharing lines with various local breweries (a variety of them rather than too focused) and other goodies which just deserve a spot like La Folie. Stronger stuff is served in a tall and pleasant snifter. The young man behind the bar, who might have been one of the owners, was clearly a beer geek, offering dedicated, friendly and informative service, as good as it gets for that. Very comfortable feel, soberly decorated, but certainly a place I could spend hours in. A must in Portland, this is so easy to go to it should be hit even if you have just a day or two in town. | | BuckeyeBoy (57), Boise, Idaho | | July 4, 2009 This Place is SWEEEET if you are in Portland this is a must stop. A nice small quiet location. Very clean and plenty of lights. The tap line up is great. You can get samplers, pints, Growler fills what ever. The price is very good aswell. Lots of free games to play. They don’t have food but I guess you can place a order and some local mexican resturant will drop it off. | | stchloe (19), Portland, Oregon | | June 16, 2009 Its alright actually. Really small and not much seating, but the prices are right and the tap selection rocks. And the best part is you can order sampler flights. The decor is very much the Pearl, so if you enjoy pretensious bourgeois swank then its nice, otherwise meh. The staff is decently nice too, and there are boardgames. All around worth going to. | | Beardface (35), Eugene, Oregon | | May 9, 2009 Baileys Taproom is a place that I feel like I would have enjoyed less if I’d gone later in the evening. When were there (probably between 7 and 9 pm on a saturday night) the place was only about half full, and seemed to be mainly people who were clearly beer geeks like myself. The bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, even going so far as to teach my friend how to play one of the games they had there. They also had dominoes, which is awesome in a bar, we got 2 or 3 games in. The beer was varied and excellent, my favorite beer I had their was the Caldera Old Growth Stout, which I find to be an extremely underrated beer. I hope to visit this place again the next time I visit friends in Portland. | | leems (27), Portland, Oregon | | May 6, 2009 I’ve only been to Bailey’s once, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The service was quick and friendly, other patrons were also extremely friendly. The selection was good but I wish they had some food, just something to snack on. I will definitely be back. | Hopeye (2), Oregon does not count - explanation | | April 23, 2009 This place is all about the beer! With a selection constantly changing and updated on the web page, there’s a reason to visit Bailey’s every day. The place is certainly no frills--just some tables and some board games, with a beer-bottle decor, but is clean and inviting. Best place in Portland for a flight of tasters after work. They don’t serve food, but you can order from the Mexican place across the street and Bailey’s will let you dine in. Don’t forget to fill your growler on the way out! | | batkins (78), Vancouver, Washington | | January 21, 2009 Finally made it into this great little place. Only stayed around for 1 beer, but it was a Ninkasi Vanilla Bean Oatis Stout which was great. Selection was eclectic. Service was prompt. Didn’t pay for my beer, so I can’t honestly comment on prices. Seemed to have a steady flow of all kinds of people. We’ll be back for sure! | | after4ever (126), Brier, Washington | | November 17, 2008 Such a cool place. Right downtown. Big windows, clean, bright, and well-constructed. Nice-looking bar hits you in the face. Hang back at your table and order from the list if you like. Our visit gave the distinct impression that once the downtown worker crowd heads home, you practically have the place to yourself. Awesome variety of strong, new, rare, interesting, and locally-of-note beers on draft. Lots of big, delicious beers built for again in bottles--only a few dozen, but no bottle space spent on session beers so somehow it seems very efficient and well-considered. AWESOME prices. Definitely be back.
