Visited shortly in October with a failed plan to return after an evening meal. Noticed with pleasure two self made brews on tap and both Ægir and Nøgne Ø on tap. The selection, although numerous, seemed a tad on the weak side, but that impression may change during my next visit. Service was friendly and the atmosphere good.

Besøkte Baran to ganger i sommer. Desverre veldig vekslende kvalitet på servic og kunnskaper, og vanskelig på få smaksprøver. Brukbart utvalg (selv om mye er standard for dedikerte ølhunder), og Beer of the Month er en god ide. Skal så avgjort besøke dem neste gnang jeg er i Bergen, og jeg er spent å prøve deres egenproduserte øl!

A small, quite traditional pub located in the central beer destination area of Bergen. My pepperoni pizza delivered from a nearby pizzeria was satisfying and tasted fine with a pint of Magic Rocks Cannonball served from keg. Relaxing atmosphere with Britpop in the background. Has got a decent range of bottled beers and a few interesting ones on tap, however, it is not the second best beer place in Bergen in my book (visited, 18.09.2012).

Nice and quit, it is possible to talk. It seems like it is a student place, the beer selection is ok. The bartender should have a uniform (so it is easier and see who is working). And the bartender should be more active to collect empty glasses, taking orders, checking toilet, the total. But the place is good, and i will be back :)

Nice selection, bartenders seem to know their stuff. Except when they talk about the "beer of the month" draft. Laidback and charming interior. Good for small groups of friends to share the evening over some decent beers!

A dark and small but two-storey pub. Have a decent selection of beers on tap from Nowegian micro to belgian classics. They also have a "beer of the month"-system which provides a new beer every month on this tap. Decent selection on bottles as well. The staff is helpful and has great knowledge about beer.

Cool little place if you know what your drinking. Beer menu out of date but all shelf and tap beer available, bartenders helpful if asked and seem to know what they are doing. Tasty food and great snacks.. when they have them, impressed by the spirit selection and how they can fit so much behind that small bar. Good selection of IPAs, Porter, Belgium, Micro and Ales.

29.06.2011. This place was new to me, and Im very happy that we went to this place. They have a very good selection of international beers. We got very good service the staff had very good knowledge about their beers. Visit together with ClubGonzo, Palme, StoreMy and InBreak, and we had a very good time!

Resembles a modern day opium den. The bar is divided in two stories. The cellar - which features a Foosball table is fairly dark and damp. The upstairs is kinda crowded but ok before the drunken students stumbles in. A good selection on tap, in theory, as they are often sold out of most of them. When it comes to bottle you can luck out as it seems that there is no real plan for what they have in the shelves. You might just luck out.

A well places, cozy little student-bar with a good selection. Most of the time the staff have good time for a beer-talk, and I really like the beer-of-the-month concept they have. Have not tried the food, and probably won’t do do either, but you don’t go to Baran for the food.
