| HoppityHop (45), New Jersey | | November 24, 2009 Great place to stop by and spend an hour or two during happy hour. Always have something interesting on tap, and bartenders pour proper pints..........to the TOP of the glass. All the games are only a quarter, but admittedly, some of them are in poor condition, so don’t expect to get your all time high score. Also, wish they had the sound turned on the video games, but I guess it would be unbearably loud if they did. Fun place. | | j12601 (52), Poughkeepsie, New York | | November 23, 2009 Quite the unique place, and if you’re nearby probably a must visit. Didn’t play any games while I was there, but I loved the big open feeling and laid back vibe of the place. Good tap list, willing to do smaller pours so the beer geeks can get through more of their many offerings. | | vtafro (18), , New Jersey | | September 29, 2009 Definitely worth going to if you are already in the area. Some nice beers usually on tap, and casks. Old video games are a nice throw back and fun to pass the time while drinking. | | Leighton (19), New York, New York | | September 15, 2009 A great venue, where beer geeks and regular geeks can find common ground. I’ve been here twice; both great experiences. The myriad arcade games are a wonderful draw for the gamers/geeks and a nice diversion for the drunkies, while the strong beer selection attracts the beer geeks. Prices are quite reasonable and the bartenders seem to keep up with things. A nice bar with plenty of space. Hit it up. | | NobleSquirrel (55), Chicago, Illinois | | August 23, 2009 I was really turned off by this place. Something about it struck me as offputting. The crowd seemed insulated and cold and the bartender was indifferent. I dunno, it was probably the other bars I had been to earlier, but the only upside I found here was the vintage arcade games. I could live without coming here again. Meh. | | WeeHeavySD (102), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | August 7, 2009 Again didn’t rate it last time. This place is great spacious, dog friendly and has a great tap list and it changes regularly according to locals. Plus a flight of 5 beers for $10 is great for tickers. Didn’t play video games this time but still remain impressed. Great space and great place. | adrian910ss (6), philadelphia, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | June 24, 2009 Been here twice with the lovely Angelina and was disappointed both times. Nice atmosphere, cool bar and nice selection, but the 2 times I was here, the beer selections didnt really stand out. Ill be back though. | | Beerapprentice (11), Hopatcong, New Jersey | | June 23, 2009 [ Updated June 30, 2009 ] Been here twice and twice I’ve been disappointed. The first time it was a Saturday night and it was way crowded. The selection was okay but I’d just been to Spuyten Duyvil so it paled in comparison. The bar seemed dingy and sticky. The second time I went was a Sunday evening. It was practically empty which was good but the selection was blah. Didn’t even get anything to drink- headed over to Rattle n Hum instead. I don’t get this place. Maybe I just went on a bad day...twice. I would try it again though | | dnstone (17), , New Jersey | | June 3, 2009 Beer and video games...how could you go wrong? Well, only if youre riding your bike there and get lost in Jay-Z’s old hood. This place was great, with probably the most unique set up, though I caught it at the worng time of day and at the end of a long beer bar crawl. Hope to make it back some day. | | f351c4v (77), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania | | January 9, 2009 Visited over the ’08 holiday season. Large open space with enough seating at the bar for... a weekday night. Weekends consist of fighitng with other beer geeks for valuable bar real estate. NO imports, all micros, mostly East Coast, but there are a few western beers sprinkled in for variety. Beers are in the $5-$6 range, which is a steal in this town. Yes, there are a bunch of 25 cent vintage arcade games, including Q-Bert (a favorite), Arkanoid, and Dig Dug. Loud, somewhat obscure 80’s tunes do resonate througout the room, but they don’t drown out conversation. Worth the trip, we rode the L, it was a short walk from the station @ Metropolitan. |
