The beer selection here was moderately above average. The best part was a good selection of regional and local productions, including the Bar Harbor hits. Prices were reasonable. I love co-ops, so I’m not trying to "homer" this place for being my type of yuppie, but if you’re looking to score some quality food too, this is a great stop.

Very old school co-op which is both good and bad. I remember the beer section as being MUCH better a few years ago with an interesting selection of imports. The current beer selection doesn’t offer much in the way of unusual beers. Compared to the Rising Tide Co-op in Damariscotta the deli and bakery food and the seating area are better in Belfast but Rising Tide has a superior beer section. If you’re headed north on Hwy 1 I recommend stocking up on beer farther south or stopping at Marshall Wharf. The Belfast Co-op is, however, a good place to pick up some road food.

Interesting spot. Biggest collection of sandals and pony taills in one place that I’ve seen in the US. Good place to pick up pulses in bulk or herbal medicines if you’re into that kind of thing. Smallish but eclectic beer selection. Didn’t count them but I’d be surprised if there was anywhere near 200 bottles. Primarily called in in the hope of finding something from Sheepscot and was successful. Also found a beer from Maine Beer Co, which I’d not heard of before and was glad I did. And managed to fill a request from a friend back home for a DFH WWS, which had been proving elusive. Good prices. Not necessarily a destination in itself but worth a visit if passing which is likely if you want to try the Marshall Wharf beers at the nearby Three Tides (which unfortunately was inexplicably closed on the day we passed through).

Definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere was wonderfully social, lots of different little groups of people were laughing and talking. As was already mention, there’s a great selection of Maine beer. The Oak Pond caught my eye because I have only seen it at the brewery. There isn’t a huge selection but what’s there is great, fresh, and can accompany any occasion or meal.

This Co-Op store is quite similar to the one in Brattleboro (VT) with all of its beans, grains, etc. in bulk and its multitude of organic foods. The beer selection is quite good for the area, from local micros (Andrew’s, Oak Pond, Bar Harbor, Allagash, Penobscot Bay) to Stone, North Coast, Dogfish Head and the like. Prices are reasonable too. THE place to stock up on American micros in Belfast. If you are looking for imports, a small store called "Lily, Lupine and Fern" on the main drag could do the trick too.

One of the better beer stores in New England, let alone Maine. Not the typical beer geek store, with aisles and aisles of stuff and in fact, they only really have 3 shelves and 2 cooler doors of beer. However, they always have an interesting selection and always have Allagash and Andrews (what more do you need?). Fantastic prices on everything, singles and more, with always some oddball keg can and magnums of stuff. (Had a keg can of Schlenkerla Marzen recently). Often they have stuff in a $1 sale bin. I recently purchased 3 bottles of De Dolle Dulle Teve from this sale bin, quite happily. Lots of random Belgians/Germans/Czech and other weird stuff too. But my favorite part, I’d have to say, is the sake and mead/cider selection. Not as much mead/cider, but always tons of interesting (and high quality) sakes that you cant find elsewhere in New England. Great shopping for food here too.

This was great, a real potpourri of different things. Plenty of ME micros plus all kinds of others - Smuttynose, DFH, Unibroue, Rogue, some obscurities. They had 3 different Schlenkerlas, 2 of which I didn’t know were available in ME! Found a Unibroue Quelque-chose from 2002, a LeCoq Imp Stout, from 2001. They had great big bottles of Chouffe, stuff like that. I almost missed alot of it because it was on the other side of the aisle from the cooler and I didn’t notice it at first. Fun to check out and not too far off Rte 1.
