Very good beer shop, located in a rather "sketchy" area of downtown San Diego, where some might not really want to walk around. But the selection is great, largely arranged by style. Several vintages, and one could put together nice verticals of, say, Eclipse, for a hefty price. Most people will find many new beers here. Probably the best store downtown.

Bottleshop inside a supermarket. Awesome selection of brews classified by type. The prices aren’t cheap, specially for the non-American beers.

Visited here at night and it’s located in a neighborhood with a lot of homeless people. It’s fine for guys but wouldn’t want to bring a girl here. The selection is large and well organized. Some rare Mikkeller stuff here and there. The staff is generally friendly and was kind enough to give me a cardboard box to hold my beers once I paid. As for ambiance, the store is literally located inside a neighborhood supermarket.

This is a small grocery store with a top selection of beer. The warm bottles tend to be organized by style and the chilled stuff is sorta thown in there. Many of the tags are wrong, in the wrong spot, or old- so make sure you read the tag carefully so the prices don’t surprise you at the register. Prices did tend to be a touch high on most items, and very high on the rarer stuff, but overall I’d say it was about what I expected. Lots of cold packs of cans and bottles. Local and long distance stuff available. This is a very good beer store. Lots of goodies for all tastes (including BMC lovers). Definitely worth a stop.

En plein centre-ville avec une sélection locale et importée assez spectaculaire. Les prix sont un peu plus élevés que la moyenne à SoCal mais c’est possible de récolter des trucs plus difficile ailleurs. Bonne sélection dans les frigo.

Headed over here on a break from the conference, to score some lunch and a few bottles. Food was perfunctory (but a nice break from the greasy fare) but the bottle selection was terrific. Killer assortment of import and domestic craft, with a very strong sours/wilds section and loads of local/West Coast offerings. Grabbed some Modern Times and Firestone, bummed that I couldn’t do more. Fine place for sure.

Alright, oddly opened front space showing off all of the produce and such right at the sidewalk in this semi sketchy part of downtown. So I start winding through the short aisles of beer and along the long beer filled cooler. This is another place with a terrific selection. I could go nuts in here. Oh no. There’s a short barleywine aisle. Well that makes it easy, I love this. I grabbed five that are new to me (and sweet baby jesus it is hard to find new barleywines to try) and left behind a few that were close to or over $20 to keep the budget under control. They also have other big well aging styles grouped together. I could easily blow through a bunch of cash here and aside from the empty wallet afterward be happy as hell about the selection. If you’re downtown and already riding the trolley you may as well head over here as it will be worth the trip. God there’s a lot of good stuff here.
