| bootsjohn (13), Texas | | April 16, 2012 Hiding behind the facade of the Super Jr. Market is this gem of a store. The brothers who own this shop are serious beer nerds who have done an outstanding job fitting a lot of beer in a small space. This is the only store where I’ve gotten Pliny every time I’ve asked, even if it was only a bottle per visit. Other rarities will blow your mind (Lost Abbey, FiftyFifty, so on and so forth). They treat regulars like royalty so if you live nearby, stop here as often as possible! | | douglas88 (117), Salt Lake City, Utah | | April 6, 2012 A cool place downtown. In a super market! Loads of brews and great service. I came late when things were getting put away but they still showed me some stuff. Lots of European stuff. | | chimay67 (58), hunt sta, New York | | April 1, 2012 Certainly the best bottle shop in downtown SD. I was suprised the prices were very good for a city location, so nice job there. Scored my Jester King here, so thanks for that as well. Plenty of glassware in stock and a good portion of their stock is already chilled down. Other half of the store is grocery market so it’s really one stop shopping. | | tkingsbury2 (15), San Diego, California | | March 25, 2012 Odd place in downtown SD, pretty ghetto with a lot of homeless people out front. However, once inside its a different story as they have a real nice selection at decent prices. I found a vintage Avery Beast from 2009 along with some other rare stuff in my one stop in. Don’t let the exterior fool you, if you are nearby stop in and take a look. | | drpimento (120), La Crosse, Wisconsin | | November 4, 2011 Just got back from there and starting to sample some of the bounty provided. Most of the beer is stored to minimize fluorescent light and super easy to find - straight in from the door. Owner was working the aisles restocking and helping customers. Helped us out a lot, polite, sense of humor, and straightforward. Selection was by far mostly bomber/750s and lots of one offs. Spent some solid coin there and they recognized and gave us couple of tshirts as tokens of appreciation. Place was clean and other customers cool. Love to return. | | gsmitty80 (153), Washington DC | | June 22, 2011 Fantastic beer store that had alot of 22s cold and nice 6 packs. You could get alot of beers from the local area and the prices were right. Im not sure how good of a selection it has compared to other California beer stores as this is my first. | | stinkywinky619 (11), el cajon, California | | March 4, 2011 for some reason, I was expecting a boutique bottle shop when I headed for this place. It was definitely not what I expected, but nonetheless, they’ve got an impressive selection. | | padrefan98 (38), (San Diego) Santee, California | | February 3, 2011 I am afraid some of you just don’t know what Ghetto is. This is 7 blocks from my work and I decided to take a nice lunch time stroll up to see this place. Sure I passed by a few bums a few vacant windows and an occasional wiff of urine, but please tell me where in Downtown San Diego that isn’t normal. I felt safer walking to this store then I do in broad daylight in downtown El Cajon. I don’t get why people are so quick to call something Ghetto. Go to 12th and imperial if you want to see Ghetto. Ok, on to the review. This place is so discreet; I thought I was at the wrong place until I saw the beer shelves in the back right hand corner. What a selection! Plenty of stuff to keep you busy looking at for 30 minutes at least. I felt rush as I was on my lunch break. They have a service deli that informed me today was half off sandwich day Tue and Thur). So I ordered a nice Salami sammy that the lady cut fresh off the salami roll served on sour dough and ate it back in the office. It was great for $3. I will be back when I can buy some beer. The prices were fair, and the selection was outstanding but typical if you go to any of the hot spots in San Diego County. Bev. 4 Less, South Bay, and Holiday have all the same stuff as this place. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | November 21, 2010 Went here to fill up the last 3 slots in my shipper before we got on the plane. Unassuming place inside a mini-mart in downtown, you might have to battle past a few bums on the way in. We were left alone while browsing which is fine with me. Great selection of beers to chose from, nothing super rare but still great. Prices seemed pretty good as well. If your downtown stop by this place. | | mkade8883 (28), Chicago, Illinois | | October 29, 2010 Beer is in the side of a random convenience store. Great selection includes local San diego beers and a nice selection of Belgian and American craft beers. |
