A lovely beer cafe located in the city centre and across a canal. The heated terrace seating added to the ambiance (visited in December) A well represented and carefully selected beer menu specialising mainly in Belgian and Dutch beers. But, also including guest beers from other parts of the world too. The barmaid was friendly and knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations.

Brilliant that this is just across the road from the Klooster. A bit bigger, which helps, not quite as good a selection at present, but a bit better service.

Rather difficult to do a comprehensive review of this place because, basically, we just sat in the sun on the terrace drinking De Molen Op & Top with jbrus. That ran out, while we there, so I moved on to Hertog Jan Lentebock for the simple reason that it was the only beer on tap that I’d not tried before. Didn’t examine the bottle list too closely but it seemed to be fairly solid, if not packed with rarities. The bottle emphasis os on Belgain beers punctuated by a few Dutch & international beers. Bizarrely, I notice it stocks Crumpton Oaks cider from Aston Manor, which hardly anyone in the Uk has rated. Must retirn for a closer look so that I can do a fuller review.

Nice selection of beers, great staff and a nice ambiance. They have a terrace along the canal. There’s regular events such as beer tastings, pubquizzes and live music during summer.

One of my favourite spots. Always some beer surprises, like Flying Dog’s K-9. Decent Dutch and Belgian beers beers.

Any bar that has a special De Molen listing on the wall gets extra points. Only 7 tables and a bar, great selection including some special Dutch ones like Eem, De Molen, Jopen and Emelisse. Nice location too, definitely a bar U will return too.

Excellent cafe in a lovely location on the canal. Intelligent beer menu with lots of rare stuff at reasonable prices. The trapistenlokaal Klooster on the other side of the canal is even better. Highly recommended.

We visited Delft on a sunny April day (2 April) on a trip out from Amsterdam (about a hour away by train) to meet John, who had kindly dedicated the whole day and evening to show us around his lovely home town. We stopped at the Biercafe Doerak between visiting the Old Church (dating from 1246) and the New Church (well, newer - it’s less than two centuries younger) and it was the perfect place to while away an hour or so sitting by the canal and watching the world go by. There are a few tables right alongside the canal and more across the pavement under a canopy outside the café. Inside, I had an impression of dark wood floors and furniture but it was too nice a day to linger inside for long. We were served at our table by the friendly owner. There was probably a good range of beers but for me there was only one choice – a refreshing, hoppy De Molen on draught.

My local in Delft. I cycle from the Hague to Delft and here is where I always top for refreshment :-) Good beer knowledge here. Friendly staff & locals. Decent selection of interesting beers including quite a lot of Dutch beers. They have tables outside and it’s next to a canal very close to the main square.
