The setup of this brewpub is certainly different than most. Big Horse has great sitting areas inside or out with great views of Hood River and the Columbia. It was a fun place to hang out with pool tables and good tunes. The beer selection was decent with 6 or 7 of their own then one guest tap. The beers were a little pricey outside of happy hour but I find that is the standard for the area. Definitely a nice place to hit up after playing in the wind and water of the Columbia or taking a drive up Mt. Hood.

I waited along time to visit this place and once I did finally go i wondered why I waited so long. They got good beer, food and the view is something else. Make 3 stops in Hoods river and this needs to be one. Cheers you will have fun just be sire to be in shape the stair case is long.

Overall a good experience. Located on the upper side of Hood River overlooking the town and river. Lots of nice decor and comfortable seating. The patrons were relaxed and enjoyable. The food was tasty and definately the chef takes his or her work seriously. Excellent beer and will be rated seperately.

stairs are not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. view is great. staff was friendly. it was a wednesday around 7-8 oclock. was not that busy. walked in and had a few employees stare at us until someone eventually sat us. (think it was the water girl) ordered an ipa and wife ordered a coke. water had 4 ice cubes in it (thought i was in europe). the coke was flat, and the ipa was average to decent. (aroma was good, but finished a little harsh) ordered steak tips and a burger. took a little while to get our food, and when it came, there was a hair on the burger bun. let it go. the fries were warm, but just barely. the steak was a little over cooked and was hard to cut with my butter knife. the burger looked like a pre packaged burger that was terribly dry. we only ate about half our meal. and for the level of the food, was way over priced. maybe it was a bad day. once again, staff was nice, view was great, and the girl who kept filling my water, was the only one really on the ball.

Very neat pub overlooking the Columbia river. The beers were generally good and the food on par with bar food. Prices were reasonable.

Had an enjoyable experience here. I’ve been here several times and the service is always hit or miss. They always have on a few standards and some rock solid seasonals, which is the draw for me. Everyday beers are basic, but brewed true to style. First of all you have to really want to try the beers here, because you will get your exercise doing it, specfically up 3 1/2 flights of stairs. The views of downtown and the river are spectacular especially in the fading light heading into night when the town lights up. It’s worth it!

heard lots of great stuff about this place from lots of people. Went in, wasn’t too big on the aesthetic of the place, kind of bare. But service was great, had a couple of their own brews that were really tasty, and the happy hour was awesome. Four of us ate and drank and our bill was $30 dollars!!!!

Nice pub up on the hill with a view of the river. The food was very good, I had a small pizza that was excellent. They had 6 beers on tap or so, all good to very good quality, only one beer was a bit disapointing. Highly recommended place.

Ok, first things first.....get ready for some stairs! Behind the street level windows you will find the brewery. Go up the first set of stairs to find a couple of nice pool tables and the bathrooms. Go up another, inside set of stairs to find the bar/restaurant. The bar is fairly small as is the dining area, both with views of the river. Several outside patios/decks for fair weather seating. Food is somewhat overpriced, but for the area, it’s probably no TOO bad. Service was good, as was the food. Beers were a bit above average, with the stout being particlularly good.
