Big sports bar vibe with a bottle shop off to one side. TVs and pub food. Staff was friendly if not terribly knowledgeable. There arenít a ton of brewpub options in Ottawa and this is one of them. Beers are pretty pedestrian - well-made but they wonít knock your socks off.

They brew on site so I am always willing to go. Decent brews and good food. A bit overcrowded and noisy - sport bar like feel trying to be classier. I do recommend giving it a try. You can also buy growlers to go.

2013-02-XX Stopped in for lunch with my wife and my uncle. It has a very corporate restaurant meets Sports Bar feel overall. Comfortable but not a lot of character. Food was decent, the beers were just okay. We got a sampler and ticked our way through the beers but not many impressed. Not a bad spot if you are in the neighbourhood but there are much better craft beer options in town if you have limited time.

Nice enough place. Sound profile is loud due to all of the hardness of the floor/ceiling/furniture. Not a lot of beer selection as they only serve their own, so usually about 6-8 choices. Some better than others. Food is above average. Their sweet potato fries are some of the best I have ever had. Their pizzas, especially their Big Rig pizza, and Buffalo Chicken pizza are both some of the best in the region. Service is hit and miss. Had good trips, then others where the wrong beers were given to the wrong people at our table, and a beer that had gone off was sent back after a couple of sips and still showed up on the bill. I like the place, but there is plenty of room for improvement. UPDATE Oct.28, 2014 - Have been here twice in the last 2 months and the quality of their beers and service have both gone up remarkably. Quickly becoming one of my favourite places in town.

Kind of like a massive, glorified sports bar. Sat at the bar and got huge attitude in service typical for a place like this from bar girl. Beers are ok, but really only worth it for tick hunters who have time to hit up the area. Didnít bother with the overpriced food. Suburban chain restaurant feel.

Big Rig needs to call for a wrecking ball...Well, maybe not a wrecking ball, but what do you call the tool you us to rid your establishment of lazy/poorly trained staff and start all over? oh! a wanted ad, thatís it.

Large space, newly finished and attractive. You would think it would be great to watch a hockey game but despite the number of TVs they were not that large and were placed up quite high. For a brewery, the staff (at least our server) was not terribly knowledgeable. Reasonable range of beers available but did not find either of the ones I tried to be stellar (IPA was decent). Food was OK but not great and was a little on the pricey side for what you got.

Visited Feb. 27, 2013 for lunch. One of those brewpub sport bar, very close to the freeway (417). Nice TV collection! The service was nice, not the most knowledgeable but friendly, the barmaid was nice enough to tell me that the IPA was bitter (if you call it bitter). I had a typical but tasty burger, ok price. I had two beer, the IPA and the stout, they were ok at best, I did not expect high quality, you would not get mind blowing stuff there. Itís a ok place, but I would not go all the way there for more beer.

I want to really like this place, but just canít. Think Moxies in Red Deer. Music was killing me both time Iíve been. Beer is unremarkable, food was not good. Service was clueless.
June 2013 re-rate: having been a few times since initial rating I do like the place better now. Music has been a big change, far less shania twain. Their standard lineup of beers still very bland, but all the seasons Iíve had have been ok to very good.

Went there with a couple of friends yesterday. Big place, lots of TVís, however the music was a little too loud and the place being so big, it felt like a hallway. Service was below average: pretty girls in short skirts with very poor knowledge of the menu and products (for example when asked for an herbal tea, she brought on Orange Pekoe, pretending it has no caffeine in it). Selection of beer is ok, 6 types of their own brews (I tried 4 of them) some other bottled and drafts. Food was awful. I got a burger that was made with grilled cheese between two slices of bread (which should be simple and tasty), in reality it was very oily and impossible to eat by hands, I had to use the fork and knife. The patty was unsalted, non-spiced and bland. The amount of fries that came with the burger was absurd, about a pound, and the ketchup was only in a 20ml container for 6 people. Oh, and to switch from fries to a garden salad, you have to pay extra (another moment the server was unaware of). My friend had a beef stroganoff, which she described as average. The only good food was the pulled pork sandwich.
Prices are ok, somehow average for Ottawa.
The beer was disappointing, maybe except for the raspberry ale, which had a nice refreshing taste of a hefe plus the berries. The stout was watery, the IPA unbalanced and the hefe plain boring.
I really hope their chef and brewmaster improve their skills in the near future, cause if things donít change, Iíll rather go to Brasseurs du Temps for much better food, beer and service.
