| madmitch76 (69), , England | | April 1, 2012 A characterful pub - definitely has a rock venue vibe and the music was played at a good volume - ie clear and audible but not enough to destroy any conversation.
Selection was something of a dissapointment - was hoping for more interest on tap rather than more Mack beers which I could purchase for a fraction of the price in the Spar round the corner.
Ended up with a Scottish bottle which cost me over £10 - and thus my first intro to the nightmare that is Norwegian drink prices. Everything is expensive is this country but beer is stupidly expensive.
With nothing else to tick we left after the one drink and me feeling poorer and let down. | | RuneStumo (47), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway | | March 13, 2012 13.03.2012. Nice small bar in Tromsø. Very kind and helpful staff that had time to talk about both beer and music. Good beers and good music!
Their beer selection is decent by Norwegian standards, but why not more micros?. Good burgers. | | janhfje (13), Skien, Norway | | July 29, 2010 The best selection of beers in Tromsø?
And great burgers. | | Sailor78 (10), , Norway | | June 23, 2009 Rock’n’roll, great hamburgers and a good selection of beers to choose from. Definetively a place to try while in Tromsø! | | Nordcore (20), Lyngen alps, Norway | | March 23, 2009 [ Updated March 26, 2009 ] A bar over several floors. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I belive this is the bar in Tromsø with the best selection of beer? They even had the trappist Orval. And also try the local Mack Spesial, here and Ølhallen is the only place you can try it, a nice Stout.
The only thing I did not like was the loud Rocknrolla music. But as long as they have their selection of beers, I’ll survive:) | Theres (2), Tromsø, Norway does not count - explanation | | June 12, 2008 This is the very best place to start a weekend in Tromsø, preferrably on a thursday, the food is best on thursdays believe it or not :-). Usually, the staff are very helpful and chatty about the beers. Unfurtunately, they do not serve any stouts at the time (spring 08). We miss draught Guinness. But we can always find a beer or ten we like, and once a while there is a new goody newcommer! And always a good place for a surprise-date with a man who appreciates his beer... | | Finn (10), Tromsø, Norway | | February 15, 2006 [ Updated October 28, 2009 ] Very good selection of beers. One of the best in Norway. Some bottle conditioned beers- and right now (Feb. 06) there is an unfiltered Bitter on (from keg). | | Rune (234), Tromsø, Norway | | February 15, 2006 The town of Tromsø, situated at nearly 70 degrees north, is known for its active life and social atmosphere with lots of different bars, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. The three level Blå Rock Café is the best place to drink beer in Tromsø. At the ground floor you can find a big range of bottle beers to choose from. Among others they stock British, Belgian, German, American and Scandinavian bottled beers. Blå Rock is also an outlet for the local Mack Brewery, and is the only place in Tromsø (apart from Ølhallen) where you can get Mack’s special ales on tap. Good atmosphere and service. Attracts many students, but also a wide mix of clientele. Very popular to eat are their burgers and salads (try the Waterboys salad or the Dead Kennedys burger). An unique place decorated with photos of movie stars and rock personalities. From time to time there is live music (rock concerts) to enjoy at the second level of the pub. TV screen at the ground level with football matches in the afternoon. Non smoking inside. Blå Rock Café is truly a pub for delight in life in the high north. |
