| RHeastings (23), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | November 11, 2009 Rather nondescript from the outside, belying a really cool place within the interior. Seating is in the front of the place, save for a small stage area, upon which live bands frequently play. The selection is small, but generally something decent can be found, at a reasonable price. The food is said to be sourced from local providers to the greatest extent possible, and it seems true, as there is a nice fresh note to all of the edibles. The atmosphere is very warm, very relaxed, and pretty progressive; a great place to take kids for a low-priced dinner. Overall, nicely done. | | WVHouseofBeer (17), Morgantown, West Virginia | | October 22, 2009 [ Updated November 12, 2009 ] Selection is the best you’ll find in Morgantown. The food is a tad on the pricey side but it was definitely good. They usually have a couple local beers on tap, (Miners Daughter Oatmeal Stout, Roedys Red). A very chill place to go and have a beer and hang out. One of the better places in Morgantown to sit down and have a beer. | thechandler (4), Morgantown, West Virginia does not count - explanation | | October 18, 2008 This is a pretty nice place. More of a bar attached to a restaurant, but a bar nonetheless. Selection is about the best you can get at a bar in Morgantown. Lots of Rogues, probably 12-15. Dead Guy on Tap. As well as the Black Bear Oatmeal Stout, their own brew (which is actually Mountain State’s Miner’s Daughter Oatmeal Stout). Service is pretty good. Nice people at least. Generally always a live artist playing. Usually something folky. I didnt actually have the food, but it looked good, and I heard good things so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Kind of on the pricey side overall, but its worth it if you want good beer and a pleasant, non-threatening atmosphere. | | cheapdark (65), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania | | September 8, 2007 [ Updated July 22, 2008 ] This place is pretty big and was for the most part empty during a WVU game, I was glad, nice oasis after the fist two stops. It is not dark inside as described earlier. I was surprised to find Mountain State Black Bear on tap, what a relief. Turns out the black bear may be a special oatmeal stout that is made for this place. They also had a fine selection of other micro brews on tap, about 5. No free parking in downtown Morgantown, it’s located right off of Don Knott’s Blvd. They also have Saranac real rootbeer for the non RBeerians and the kids, pretty good! A benefit that is accepted. Barmaids are nice eye candy. Friendly place, I hesitated to go in here because of the parking, but I’m glad I made the effort. I didn’t have time for food today. An overall enjoyable experience. | | hopscotch (152), Vero Beach, Florida | | November 20, 2006 It’s dank, kinda dark, sometimes too noisy and the live music usually sucks. However, they have the best selection of craft beer in the state as far as I know. They carry all the Rogue beers that are at or under 6% ABV and always have at least one WV craft beer on tap from one of the two WV brewpub/craft breweries other than the WVBC. The service is great, the hippies are abundant and the build-your-own burritos are pretty darn good. Also, it’s about one full block from the WVBC. Gotta go if you’re a beer guy/gal and in Morgantown. | alemanstout (1), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | September 19, 2005 Cozy place in downtown Morgantown. Has decent beer selection for WV. Food (mostly burritos and quesadillas) is great but not always consistent. Awesome owners and friendly staff. Great place to start a night out. Definitely worth checking out if you’re down in "Moetown." |
