| sic1314 (33), Leiden, Netherlands | | May 9, 2012 I want to move in. Great staff, proper bar feel to the place, only flaw I could find was that in trying to go for obscure beer choices, what they were selling wasn’t the best quality of beer imaginable. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | April 24, 2012 Definitely my favorite beer bar in nyc, though I still haven’t been to The Ginger Man. Always have some exciting stuff on draft, bartenders are attractive and knowledgeable, and prices are fairly reasonable (they allow half pours of pretty much everything). Love the decor and setup inside too. Food menu is limited, but solid. | | stammmta (10), New York | | April 2, 2012 Great tap house in the west village. Knowledgable staff, superb tap lineup and great eats. Must see if you can only hit a few when you’re in town. Try to get there early it gets REALLY full, really quick. | BigSound (9), New York does not count - explanation | | April 1, 2012 Cool bar. Dim lit atmosphere, plenty of seating, bar and tables. Looks like 28 taps plus casks nice variety. Prices are high $7, $8, $9. | bsklar (1), New York does not count - explanation | | March 7, 2012 Been my go-to bar for nearly a decade at this point, from Hudson st to Bleeker st. Ambiance is great, even when jammed full of people. Service is, somehow (remarkably, amazingly) very solid no matter how packed. The bar tenders must have a 6th, or even 7th sense, because rarely am I ever waiting long for a beer. They pour and serve very quickly and efficiently, yet are also polite. I don’t know where the owner finds his employees, but they truly are the best. Food is FAR better than need be at a bar, but moreso than that it’s fantastic by any objective measure.
Value - for New York, literally unbeatable. The beers they serve are in many cases unavailable for any price, yet they are generally $7-10. For rare small batch beers, I don’t think I need to tell any New Yorker that that’s a steal.
In short - Awesome. | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | February 28, 2012 Also surprised to see that I hadn’t reviewed this place. I stopped in a few years ago when there was an Elysian tap take over and fell in love then. The village vibe is just perfect for me and I think the prices are workable. The bartenders have always been fantastic to me and I love finding a comfortable spot to settle into and work through a few selections, which are always and interesting, except when Stone blasts the boards. | slumme77 (5), Weert, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | February 17, 2012 great ambiance, very crowded but great atmosphere, large selection of beers,
cosy, it feels a little like home!! | | brystmar (10), Brooklyn, New York | | February 7, 2012 A perpetual favorite of mine. The Tiger gets *extremely* crowded almost every night nowadays, though, and I really hate places that become wall-to-wall blocks of people. But good for them; I’m happy to see craft beer bars succeed.
Excellent selection with 30+ draft lines and a couple of casks. Impressive bottle list with some tasty rare and vintage items. Bottles tend to be overpriced, and the draft prices are on the higher side too (but still reasonable).
Food was surprisingly good in my experience, though I heard their food menu was shaken up recently and now gets mixed reviews.
All in all, quite happy to have a place like the Tiger nearby. | ATTWNone (6), , does not count - explanation | | January 31, 2012 My favorite spot when I’m in NYC. Always a great selection of beers on tap and on cask. Bottle selection is very good as well. Food is good but somewhat limited. Can get very crowded almost any time of the day - afternoons are best. | TheMagiKarp (3), Nicosia, Cyprus does not count - explanation | | January 21, 2012 As a huge craft beer fan, I love the Blind Tiger! So many taps to choose from and an almost equal number of bottles.
The place was already packed when my friends and I arrived just after 6pm, which was actually disappointing as we wanted to grab some food. We eventually managed to snag a couple of seats at the bar and proceeded to order some pickled veggies, the beer braised chicken and chorizo tacos and the pilsner-brined chicken wings. Everything was served promptly and the tacos were especially tasty.
The bartender seemed quite knowledgeable and I was quite pleased with his recommendations. I’m not sure how often their selections change, but there were about 5-6 seasonals for the winter. |
