| jcnielsen (26), Kansas City, Missouri | | May 11, 2012 I wasn’t expecting this place to be too great, but I was pleasantly surprised. I tried the sample tray, which included 6 different beers. The beers were pretty decent for a brewpub, a lot better than I was expecting. I really enjoyed that bbq here, and my dad was a big fan of all the tractor parts that decorated the walls | | deyholla (90), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | April 28, 2012 Another Ann Arbor brewpub with solid food. Six taps with two that rotate and solid beer. They are in the process of expanding. Service has always been good and everything is fairly priced. A few tvs if you want to catch the game. | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | April 27, 2012 A buddy and I stopped in here to taste a few beers back when they opened. At the time, the atmosphere seemed overwhelming and the beers all taste like chlorine, but I’ve since tried a few others and thought them to be alright. Still, I felt out of place in a an "upscale" barbeque joint, which is an paradox if I’ve ever heard one. | | fredandboboflo (62), East Setauket, New York | | February 10, 2012 Couldn’t disagree more with the general sentiment about the beers at this place. Thought everything I tried was well-made and very tasty. Didn’t get the barbecue but my chicken Cobb salad was just fine with me. Not a stop to be overlooked in Ann Arbor. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | January 19, 2012 I was a little hesitant about this place given prior ratings (and even skipped it on a past trip to AA), but this turned out to be a great place. They have about 6 regulars on tap and 3 seasonals. I got to try 4 of them, the regular IPA, a seasonal single-hopped IPA, oatmeal stout, and the regular pilsener. All were quite excellent. The food is great too (I had the pulled pork sandwich - very tasty!!). The only thing I didn’t like is they have a cold strip for keeping your beer cold but it freezes the run off from the pour. A small point though. Overall, a fantastic stop. The beer is great, the food is great. Stop here in addition to the other great AA brewpubs. I can’t wait to be back! | | flatmatt (48), Ann Arbor, Michigan | | October 17, 2011 Kind of a cozy, dark wooden place once you get inside. Service was good. I had a very reasonably priced six-beer sampler first, which let me taste everything on tap. The beers ranged from average to good. Had the Carolina pulled pork plate for dinner. Food was decent, but the sauces were great. The smoked chicken and sweet corn chowder was very good as well. I’d usually prefer Jolly Pumpkin or Arbor Brewing, but this isn’t a bad option by any means. | | Brigadier (127), Bloomington, Indiana | | September 21, 2011 I stopped here on a busy Sunday evening but even so the service was dismal. It took over fifteen minutes to get a waitress and another five to get a beer. When they did come they were average at best. The prices were not bad except for the food. For more than the cost of the same dish at Vintage Brewing (in Madison) I got a meal which was half as good.
In summary this place is better than either Grizzly Peaks or Arbor Brewing but not really a destination itself. Get some food elsewhere, grab a beer, and then move on to Jolly Pumpkin Cafe for the night. | | JulienHuxley (64), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec | | July 24, 2011 Stayed for almost a pint - didn’t quite finish. Pretty large bar, designed for a hip crowd, good ambiance and nice decor. The bar service was fine, the beer wasn’t too great though so we moved on quickly. No faults really with this place, there are only better places to visit in AA. | | KPD (64), Michigan | | June 28, 2011 Was there once about a year ago and had the sampler, didn’t think the beer was that great. | | RudiNicole (77), Michigan | | June 4, 2011 Pretty nice place, cool look inside with barnwood on the walls. Ordered the 6 beer sampler (which was all of the beers they have) and split it with my dad. They were decent beers, nothing to rave about, but I didn’t want to toss them either. The food was good, and I liked how everything was housemade. It was a good experience, and worth a stop if you are hopping breweries in Ann Arbor. |
