| markwise (124), North of Tampa, Florida | | January 5, 2012 Nice warehouse brewery with cozy tasting room and overflow facility out into the brewery. Limited firkins, limited kegs, seasonals, and tasty beers in the tasting room. The only thing missing is a food truck. The owner was nice enough to give me a tour and answer many questions about the beer. Family-friendly atmosphere and family-owned brewery. I will be by any time I am in town. | | Msumax1985 (13), Florida | | November 27, 2011 Have been a fan of this place for several years. | | yayforbeer (18), Orange Park, Florida | | December 8, 2010 Bold City Brewery is a breath of fresh air in the otherwise desolate beerscape of Jacksonville. I have been to the taproom on numerous occasions, and our brewclub has held several meetings at the brewery. Brian Miller, the brewmaster, is a member and supporter of the brewclub. His mother Susan, is the business manager. Together, they have built the brewery from scratch to a thriving family business with a lot of buzz in Jacksonville. I have tried almost all of their beers, some are great and some are not so great, but the taproom is always an interesting, fun and comfortable place to go for a beer. Prices are good, samples are free, and service is wonderful and caring. Good food is catered by “Jolly Mon Catering” and prices are reasonable. They can’t actually sell any food from the brewery due to some truly idiotic and corrupt Jacksonville laws. The city is corrupt to the core and you can bet that any law passed around here puts some dirty money in at least one city councilman’s pocket. Anyway, I’m a big fan of the brewery. They just greatly enlarged the brewery, so apparently I’m not the only one.. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | July 11, 2010 [ Updated August 11, 2011 ] We had no idea what we were walking into from the outside of this place. I mean, it’s a warehouse. There’s a roll down door and a regular door to right so we don’t know what to expect. However, when we step through the door we are welcomed from the Florida heat into a classy taproom with candle-lit tables and a brick bar serving some of the best craft brew we’ve had in ages! Sample tray? Free if you plan to purchase a beer- and do we ever plan to purchase. The beer was excellent. Our favorites: the wife feel in love with the Bold City Red Ale while I was impressed with the Mad Manatee. I was only disappointed that I missed the Chinook. Tours of the brewing area were offered every 1/2 hour or so and it was a treat to meet the brewer and owner. Overall one of our best experiences while on vacation. Good people, great beer. Thank you Bold City. Next time we’re in Jacksonville, we will be back! | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | March 18, 2010 Bold City is awesome. The beer is sort of average but they’re cheap, fun to drink. And hell, where else on the planet do they have beer pong and flip cup tournaments inside the brewhouse while you play with craft beer!? Just really fun and awesome. And cheap barbecue to order right inside the warehouse. My favorite place in Jacksonville! | DaveBrewer (3), Florida does not count - explanation | | February 5, 2010 A nice little tap room to try the beers from the brewery in the back, also allows you to fill up a growler to go. Well worth the visit to try the variety of styles they are brewing | | beernoevil (46), Suwanee, Georgia | | November 27, 2009 Great people, great beer, great value. Nuff said! | | marchcow (36), Coralville, Iowa | | November 19, 2009 Nice little brewery. Had a sampler and like everthing on it. Prices were very good. Nice brewpub with a big window into the brewery and folks hanging around on a Saturday afternoon. Laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. | | Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | September 6, 2009 This is a little warehouse packaging brewery with small air-conditioned tasting room built in at the front. They were readily filling one gallon growlers nearly one after the other during my extended visit. So the beer seems popular which is great. The staff is friendly in this family run establishment. The beer is as good as or better than anything else made for a hundred and fifty miles in any direction. The brewer Brian graciously showed us around. I will certainly visit again if I can get back to this area of FL. | | sebletitje (200), Enghien, Belgium | | August 16, 2009 Visited with ibrew2or3.
Finally a place worth stopping at in Jax.
Small brewery in what appeared to be the hood.
Inside sports a nice tasting room with a window overlooking to the brewery itself.
10 beers on tap, free sampler tray and amazingly cheap pints.
Service was friendly and very family oriented which is a welcome change from anything else we had seen in the other JAX breweries so far.
They are doing great stuff in that town, and my only concern is some of the beers that appeared to be very one dimensional and thin in body.
Lots of local people coming in to refill the 1gal growlers.
Really good location and the best brewery in JAX bare none. |
