jvhemert (3), , Scotland does not count - explanation | | November 15, 2009 Authentic pub, best known for its selection in Whisky, which is hard to miss as it takes up most of the bar. Always has a good selection of cask ales. | trapped (4), , Turkey does not count - explanation | | September 24, 2009 Very nice atmosphere with almost exclusively local clientele, despite the location being near the tourist hangouts. No food was available. Eight guest ales were on tap. The inside, the decoration is simple but elegant although the tables were a bit too small (almost the size of stools). I would definitely try to visit the place again. | | swoopjones (115), Buffalo, New York | | September 23, 2009 probably the best in Edinburgh. 8 casks, some BrewDog bottles. Staff somewhat friendly. Good pub. Beer mail cgarvieuk & have some beers with him, great guy | | RuneStumo (19), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway | | September 23, 2009 20.09.2009. The Bow Bar is a small bar. There is no music and the lights are on. I love the atmosphere that creates. I love to sit down and listen to people talking when I try a new beer. The beer selection is pretty good. The man behind the bar was friendly and helped me with beernames and styles. The whiskey selection was eaven greater I think there must have been more than 100 different bottles there. When I visited there was 14 taps, where 8 was casks/guest beers? | | kseecs16 (139), Naperville, Illinois | | September 21, 2009 Small but comfortable bar with an extensive and well documented array of whisky and good selection of bottle and draught beers. Definitely a drinking destination as there is nothing else besides the company of your friends and the staff to occupy you here, as it should be! Staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on whisky and beer. Pricing seemed very fair in the heart of the tourist area. | | thewolf (123), Kolding, Denmark | | August 4, 2009 One of two places we returned to. Great, small common room with a rather large bar. A s**t-load of whiskys. 6 casks that change fairly regularly. Very friendly service. I always respect when a barman recommends a competitor, because we wer looking for an excact beer. Good brewdogs in bottle. Nice, cozy place. | | skortila (65), Bunnik, Netherlands | | July 13, 2009 Visited suring my vacation in Scotland, September 2008. Cosy bar in the old centre of Edinburgh. has several casks of differen ales. Friendly staff. | | RichardW (16), Carlisle, England | | February 11, 2009 One of my favourite bars in the UK and certainly my favourite in Edinburgh. All Scottish air fonts for dispense, which are a fairly rare thing these days. Around 8-10 draught beers available, all in great condition. Wooden flooring and bench style seating. Fantastic old brewery mirrors on the walls and a superb malt whisky menu to tempt you, should you feel the need to stray from the beer range. Outstanding. | | Rune (87), Tromsø, Norway | | December 8, 2008 Stylish and characterful real ale and whisky pub near the National Library. Excellent selection and fast rotation of seven cask ales, served by classic Scottish air pressure dispense. The real ales are often from smaller and independent breweries. At one of my visits I found Brewdog Punk IPA on cask. Has also got a big selection of Scottish malts. They certainly know how to handle ale and whisky at this one roomed pub. Definitely one of the very best for beer drinking in Edinburgh. Last visited 12.11.2008 with Finn and a few other Norwegians. | | Magicdave6 (50), London, England | | January 13, 2008 With cgarvieuk. I liked this place all wooden palaling and good old bottles on the walls to look at. Beers in decent nick and 3 ratings for me also from english brewerys which can be rare in edinburgh. |
