Located in the main hall of the train station, this place is perfect to get a glass of one of the many Swiss beers they offer while waiting for the next train. However, not the place to go if you are a Craft Beer lover.

Loud, noisy placea which is a big "thumbs down" for me personally. If you’re looking for a little bit of "Biergarten mood" you’ll be happy though.
The selection reads as if they have a lot of beer, but 9 out of 10 are a complete waste of storage space as they are mostly lagers that could easily be replaced by each other.
The service staff is mostly sub-par, they don’t seem to care at all whether you stay or leave. Odd! Hello Mr. Manager, you should look into that...
Very overrated place and should be avoided if you have the time/mobility to go somewhere else. Given that Erzbierschof opened a bar only 5 minutes away I can’t see why any beer lover would ever enter this place again.

We hit this place on an evening when Switzerland were playing in the football world cup. The place was packed inside and we could not get served at our table outside, on the station. I went inside to get our drinks and was served them in plastic glasses. I refused to have them. I told the manager we were not interested in the football and were sat outside away from the televisions. He let me have proper glasses, but I was then overcharged. One of our beers was absolotely rank. We need to return on a quieter day.

On paper the selection is quite big. However, mostly boring and unremarkable lagers.

November 2012. Very crowded and noisy. A vast selection of Swiss beer but nothing too innovative. Impatient waitstaff and the flip-top in one of the bottles we ordered wasn’t properly sealed, but that’s probably not the restaurant’s fault. Some stuff that’s hard to find elsewhere in the city so worth the visit.

Don’t miss this place when you are at Zurich and if you have not been there before. Swiss beers only, no rarities, but the greatest choice countrywide in a restaturant.

Good, central location. I counted 101 beers on the menu, seven of which were on tap). Most or all were Swiss, and a very good selection it was indeed. Food was just average, though.

Large brasserie in Hauptbahnhof (main trainstation), "outdoor" seating which allows smoking- and smoke free inside resturant are.
Large selection of beers, 7 on tap and at least 100 other swiss beers on bottle- not much foreign (but I was here for Swiss beer anyway.
Food, mostly meat based german style dishes, large portions
Sometimes service was a bit slow, but overall ok.
Worth a visit if you are in Zurich

Upstanding pub in main area of Zurich HB train station. Good beers on tap and friendly service. Enjoyed the Halden Gut Lager.

(Visited 11/2011): Brasserie Fédéral is located inside the Hauptbahnhof (train station) in the heart of Zürich.
The interior is large and open with elegant architecture and a stained glass ceiling. There is a bar in the center of the space with seating all the way around, with the rest of the place devoted to table seating.
This place has around 8 beers on draught including Halden, Falken, Ittinger and Eichoff. The bottled selection accounts for around 100 mostly Swiss beers.
Service in a busy train station around dinner was pretty good. Our server was somewhat knowledgeable about the beers and made recommendations on food.
Food at Brasserie Fédéral is decent. We had porkchops and pork cordon bleu, both of which were alright.
Overall the convenience of the location and large beer list make this spot a worthwhile visit.
