Visited one evening, after Euston Tap. Nice traditional pub with good cask selection. Worth visiting.

First of all, let’s address the Bree Louise’s faults straight on: it’s a bit sticky, the staff speak varying degrees of English, they’re out of quite a few of the advertised ales, and the gravity cask can be slightly iffy. However if I had a pub like this near my house it would become a second home. 18 (well, fewer, but 18 are advertised) cask ales compliment 10 ciders along with a small array of well-chosen craft (my biggest bugbear: only 2 out of the 5 were available). No music to drown out the conversation. A proper town pub in the city. And the CAMRA discount takes it below my locals’ prices in Ely. Under normal circumstances I’d happily drink here all afternoon but by God are you spoilt for choice in this area, so a swift half or two will suffice.

Bree Louise With a cider/cask focus this pub has some intriguing selections but sticks to the traditional closing time of 11pm which is lame. Nice looking bare bones local pub, decent service. Not worth going out of your way for but if you are in the are you should pop in. 72

Terrible, just plain awful, a real ale pub selling poor beer at very high prices, even allowing for the fact that this is London. I couldn’t finish my pint from the Windsor and Eton brewery, the ale was dire. The pub could really do with a good scrub, hygiene levels were sorely lacking.

Corner pub in the residential area immediately to the west of Euston Station. This pub is traditional in style but fairly ordinary in the main and doesn’t put a huge amount of effort into its look. It does however have a decent enough row of ales that may warrant a look, certainly so if you have time to kill before a train and don’t fancy the cramped Euston Tap. That said this pub was heaving on the Saturday afternoon I was in here, although that was very much down to the fact it was the last day of the 6-Nations rugby tournament with England playing at the time.

3 mins walk away from Euston Tap, this one is more cosy. Downside: no kegs. But lots of good stuff on cask. Loads of cider too.

For some reason I’d never been here as I usually just go in Euston Tap. A more interesting cask range in here than the Tap and the beers I tried were in good nick. Wish I’d had longer as they were plenty of ticks on offer and there’s plenty of room even though I assume it’s always busy. Good to have the beer list on large TV screens too.

Old fashioned interior, but not well maintained nor cleaned. Lovely girls behind the counter who work efficiently and fast.
Impressive selection of gravity casks, unfortunately most were in sub-optimal condition. I presume turnover isn’t big enough to warrant such a big selection. Still, not a bad place to be at, but I think I’d prefer fewer beers if that’d mean they’re in better condition.

Not the prettiest, but sometimes function is better than form. Built for real ales, there is racking everywhere. Service was great, even asking for CAMRA without prompting, and giving me the discount even thought I didn’t have my card, lots of beer and great prices, win, win.
