| jcnielsen (26), Kansas City, Missouri | | March 26, 2012 I really like going to this place, but more so for the food. The food is very good, the Hummus and Pesto and Lamb Burger are awesome. The beers here are average for a brewpub. I like their darker beers (brown, porter, stout) a decent amount better than the pale ales and wheat. They also have some guest beers on tap there, but I like getting the sampler because it seems like there is a decent turnover in new beers available. | MOboy (3), Kansas City, Missouri does not count - explanation | | March 20, 2011 Right from the start there seemed to be a lack of attention and knowledge. It took about 5 minutes for the manager and hostess to figure out how to seat the three of us in this not very busy establishment. Neither the manager nor our waitress knew the correct abv of their small beer (i heard a waiter at a nearby table say one abv for it, the manager say another and our waitress say yet another, so someone was probably right). I had a rye IPA that was just ok and my wife had the dry stout (it wasn’t too bad) and for $2.75 a pint, quite a value. The food prices were not nearly the value of the beer so that kind of evened things out. I had the Peasant Plate (various meats, cheeses, bread, veggies and fruits) and thought it was damn good...unfortunately, it took them almost 30 minutes to bring out our food. This place felt kind of pretentious and I don’t see myself going back here unless Flat Branch catches fire. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | March 19, 2011 Went at opening time, very good service and the food selection was very good as well. Tried a sampler, there were six different brews to try. My favorite was the Barley Wine, best of the group. The remainders were average, nothing to brag about. | | Tomfoolery (17), Sedalia, Missouri | | March 19, 2011 Good overall micro--offering only a few crafts, 4 at last visit. They also offer a fair bottle selection but nothing really unusual. Food is good. Certainly better than most bars but not as good as the Flatbranch. | | dwaggs2 (23), Jefferson City , Missouri | | November 14, 2010 Smaller place in downtown columbia. Decent food, burgers, pizza, and pasta. Above average service. There beer on tap, along with some other microbeers. Other bottles as well. Abita, Arcadia, Founders, etc. Wine as well. Fairly cheap. You can get a sample of all there beer as well, so that is handy. Not as good as Flat Branch, but still a good place . | | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | October 30, 2010 Beers weren’t all that great and the server didn’t know anything about the beers. On top of that, you only got about 1.5" of paper towel in the bathroom through the automatic dispenser! | | theisti (273), Leawood, Kansas | | September 22, 2010 Underground spot located right in the middle of everything in Columbia. The night I visited was their one year anniversary, so the place was jammed. Everyone was having a great time, and certainly enjoying the $1 special pints. I sat at the large U shaped bar. Additionally, there is a decent sized room of tables. All throughout, featured nice original artwork. The brewery itself is behind the bar, and features nicely. In terms of selection, they 7 taps of their own, as well as a decent sized guest bottle list. The two beers I had were really solidly made. I also had a vegetarian pizza, which was quite tasty. I have no idea what the crowds are normally like, but when I visited was a great mix of students, locals and beer fans. Fun place. | | JoeinEscazú (200), San Jose, Costa Rica | | September 6, 2010 Really impressed by the beers in this basement brewpub. Most are well attenuated and on the dryish and highly drinkable side. My fave was the Saison, which was low in abv and wasn’t ruined by spices. Hence it may be historically accurate, intentionally or no. I’ll be back to try the food and more beers. | | kitschy (60), Nebraska | | July 16, 2010 I used to head directly to flat branch. This will now be my first stop. Lower level space has a rathskeller feel. 7 house beers on draft the day we visited. | | Shellac31 (10), | | May 24, 2010 The beer is getting better as well as the food. They have very good guest taps. Service can be iffy. Their porter is their best beer so far. Recently had their Rye IPA another nice addition. |
