| NachlamSie (358), Tennessee | | May 25, 2012 Arguably the best beer bar in the history of beer. The tap list is more than enough to blow any beer geek’s mind. I counted seven rare sour ales on tap. Nearly any style a man with taste would want is well represented. Tap prices are honestly not bad for this kind of beer. The bottle list is much more expensive, but nearly endlessly vast. I ate delicious beer battered lingcod with pommes frites. Any beer lover in Seattle needs to make a pilgrimage to this Brouwer;s. | | Petronius (24), Seattle, Washington | | April 29, 2012 Don’t have much to add - you’ve read the reviews. Simply outstanding. | jbland21 (4), Seattle, Washington does not count - explanation | | April 21, 2012 For craft beer in the city of Seattle it’s hard to find a place that outdoes Brouwer’s. With two floors of seating, 64 taps, and a bottle list that would make any craft beer geek squeal with excitement, they tend to fall on the side of brute force, which their medieval themed decor seems only to reiterate. Usually when I head here I have a specific beer in mind to try, either something very rare that I wouldn’t be able to get elsewhere or one of their frequently rotating specialty cask offerings. Definitely worth checking out, even if only for one beer and a bottle to go, it would be well worth it. | | Dixonian (79), Dallas, Texas | | March 19, 2012 Very cozy pub vibe with a huge wall of taps with a walk in fridge right behind it. The layout is cool because you can see a lot of the bottles in windows behind the bar. Huge bottle list with many vintages (and hefty price tags to go along with them). The bartender was knowledgable and was obviously passionate about beer. Worth a visit if you are in Seattle. | | maekchu (11), Hirakata, Japan | | March 16, 2012 [ Updated March 17, 2012 ] A large open two-story place. Maybe 20 bar stools, 10 tables, and 4 large booths. Another 10 tables upstairs. Overall, I was a bit disappointed. The taps selection wasn’t as extensive as I’d been led to believe. Well, yes, they did have 31 barleywines available (the remnants of the recent Hard Liver BW Festival, priced at $5 for 6oz. and $7 for 12oz.), but the rest of the tap list consisted of beers you might see in many bars (eight Belgians, two from California, and one each from Colorado, NY, MO, Ireland, Germany, and England). The exception, and a decided highlight, was Pliny the Elder on tap and in bottles. The bottle selection, on the other hand, looked quite extensive. They had 59 single malts and 28 other types of whiskey, as well as 13 wines.
One big negative point is that they don’t do tasters. Another was that he service was fairly slow. The staff (four people) seemed to be very busy and not terribly friendly, rushing around at their tasks, even though the place wasn’t all that busy. Took a bit of time to place an order. Food menu looked much better than regular pub grub, though I didn’t order anything. | | curly (114), Seattle (Newcastle), Washington | | March 3, 2012 Was just here to judge for the Hard Liver BW Festival. Very nice place, nice staff, even though they were cluster-fucked. I’d love to come back and will when I have some free time. Hard to give an accurate selection rating, but considering they had 60 BW’s on tap, I’m assuming their normal selection is pretty awesome as well. Didn’t have food, but would have if they weren’t so slammed, it did look and smell good though. | | bmerz (61), New York | | February 28, 2012 No doubt this is the place to go for budding and serious beer nerds alike from Seattle or elsewhere. The selection was indeed huge, well curated and deep across regions, breweries and years. For a bar it isn’t bad either. The service however was slow and snobby in a way I didn’t appreciate....not like other craft beer meccas where I feel they’ve earned it.. I got a 2008 $50 bottle of Angel’s Share which was nearly undrinkable. when I mentioned that too one of the bar tenders he said something like "Yeah, that year sucked" Thanks for the tip buddy. Otherwise, it is kind of a Disney version of a Belgian middle ages theme. It’s kind of plastic. It was hard to get the attention of the bartenders. Still it would be hard to get bored drinking there. | GODiSSOUTHERN (7), Virginia does not count - explanation | | February 18, 2012 This place was amazing. The atmosphere is not too stuffy or too dirty. The floor plan in huge and the beer selection is even bigger. I saw so many rarities that selection was very difficult. The staff was very helpful in steering my direction. This place definitely goes in my top places. | | bhensonb (375), Woodland, California | | January 11, 2012 Nice venue. Parking isn’t easy. Beer selection is beyond world class. Comfortable. Good service. Great. | | HenryXXX (10), British Columbia | | December 24, 2011 This is one of two beer places I go when I visit Seattle. I always look forward to their beer selection do to the fact that I can’t get many of them in Vancouver,B.C. |
