johntreeter (7), Greenwood, Indiana does not count | | June 29, 2008 A great store to buy beer at when in Springfield MO., A great selection, friendly helpful staff, and beer tastings. There where many brews that I have not seen in my neck of the woods and was happy to stop on the way to the lake and on the way home. A must when in Spring field. | abcfan (6), does not count | | April 4, 2008 Wow, what a great shopping experience! They have a great selection of beer and the service was off the charts. I talked to Eric and Don for nearly 45 minutes about beer selections and tastings. They gave me some great advice on some of the local brews as well. Very nice store. | BenRod (4), Rogersville, Missouri does not count | | August 16, 2007 This is the best place to buy beer in Springfield, hands down. They have a very helpful staff, and even have beer tastings on occasion. They have been working very hard to expand their beer selection, and it shows. JoeinUccle is absolutely right about double checking the cooler. The beer aisle has a generous selection, but there are a number of gems in the cooler that are not in the aisle. | | JoeinUccle (135), Brussels, Belgium | | June 13, 2007 Indeed this is the best place to shop for beer in Springfield. It’s mainly a wine shop, but someone there has recently made admirable efforts to expand the beer aisle. Lots of top regional beers, some rare US micros, and an impressive array of Belgians. Besides the main beer aisle, be sure to check the cooler shelves that offer some treats of their own. At least one guy there was very helpful and knowledgeable. | | thegreenrooster (35), St.louis, Missouri | | June 2, 2007 This is where i learned about craft beer. 4 years at SMSU and the only thing i learned is that good beer is out there you just have to look for it. A decent selection here. Mostly local micro brew along with many international beers. Nothing spectacular but in the bible belt of sw MO this is as good as it gets. This is where I found that there are many different kinds of beer worth trying. Like sledge said there are about 300 different Brown derby’s but this is the only one for craft-international beer. | | Sledge Jr (71), Omaha, Nebraska | | March 3, 2007 As near as I can tell, this is the top place to buy beer in Springfield. They have a small shelf of "build your own sixer", but the selection is of very good quality high end beers that they sell, not just a medley of the macros. I found interesting Bells and Shlafly special editions. Arcadia barleywine. Super heavy on the wine, but I was told by the good people at Hickok’s brewpub that this was the place for take home beer. Note that there are MANY Brown Derby Liquor stores in Springfield, but the International Wine Center on Glenstone is the only site with the high end beer selection. |
