| GTAEgeek (49), Atlanta, Georgia | | May 1, 2012 Very nice storefront, with a small, warm interior. The cashier was very talkative, helpful, and knowledgeable. The selection is very wide, including a great selection of local NC beers, Belgian beers, and rarer beers. The pricing is by singles only, and the prices are terrible. Overall, this is a small, overpriced, and trendy place. Nice, but not a place I would go out of my way to come back to. | tzachary (6), Knoxville, does not count - explanation | | April 29, 2012 Great selection of both bottles/cans and kegs that are segregated by state/country of origin. Very knowledgeable staff. | hophead828 (1), , does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2012 bruisin ales is great. unfortunately they know it. i can’t even get someone on the phone long enough to answer a simple question. I’ve left my name and number and have received zero calls back. beer=good, customer service=bad | TN_Gabe (7), , does not count - explanation | | March 28, 2012 Worth the stop, but way over hyped. It’s a good bottle shop, but not exceptional. I’ve been in a few times and never been greeted or offered help by the staff and prices tend to be higher than elsewhere. Inflated pricing is no problem is the service makes up for it, not the case here. | | Hussey (12), North Carolina | | March 13, 2012 Heard about it, had to visit this establishment. Well worth it. Knowledgeable staff, great selection of brews in such a small place. Will definitely be returning to refill my trunk in the near future. A beer geek mecca. | | Guyute_Pig (39), Black Mountain, North Carolina | | March 13, 2012 Small, but very nice bottle shop. Excellent selection and always can find some rarities. Super friendly staff. Only dig is that the prices tend to be an average of 10-15% higher than necessary. | | edgallow (10), nashville, Tennessee | | February 27, 2012 I found this place while searching for breweries in Asheville. This place is great, It might be small but the selection is great. They had a wide selection from around the world. Can’t wait to go back. | | Bukowski9 (14), Piqua, Ohio | | February 25, 2012 Online order, very prompt service. They had everything I wanted and Jason was great. Thanks, will definitely order again! | | Cybercat (93), Georgia | | December 28, 2011 I visited this during a beer mini-tour of North Carolina. You walk in the place, and immediately you know that you are in a truly world-class beer store. There is ONLY beer, and only GOOD beer - nary a drop of industrial cat p***. It is rather small, but this lends a cozy, boutique atmosphere to it. Sure, it can get a bit tight when crowded, but the personnel are very helpful and latch on to you. They are friendly but not overly so, and the man who helped me was more than happy to steer me towards the best North Carolina beers. They have a ginormous selection of Belgians and a couple shelves dedicated entirely to local brews, nearly all of which I have not seen anywhere else. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 8, 2011 A super small space near the center of Asheville. Certainly convenient for the tourist like me. Given the supernatural ratings I guess I’d expected more. Don’t get me wrong, this is a quality bottle shop. There’s an entire wall of first-rate imports, largely titled to Belgians and the better known quirky European breweries currently available in the US. But the main reason I stopped in was to look for regionals, and although Bruisin’ had a decent array, it was a shallower pool than I’d hoped for -- one book shelf’s worth altogether (of maybe 10 total in the store). Sure, they have pretty much everything from the local area, but they didn’t have anything from beyond about an hour away, and there are plenty of little breweries elsewhere in North Carolina that I’d think they could get their hands on. All said, I was glad I stopped in and left with about 18 fairly-priced bottles of mostly NC beers. If you’re in town and looking for a solid lineup of imports, definitely stop in. They also have a smattering of quality brews from elsewhere in the US, some of which you may not be able to get where you live. |
