| solidfunk (39), Ontario | | February 4, 2012 A good cozy place to get a drink. They do a good job of getting new stuff - most of the beers I had here were more or less new, or at least mostly unrated. Good service, and got pretty busy on a saturday night. | | robinvboyer (54), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario | | January 29, 2012 Went in for lunch. Good tap selection of ontario micros, 8 taps. Ecclectic western hipster decor, friendly staff nice surroundings. The fod is great, the bunch burger ( fried egg, bacon, maple syrup) was outstanding. I would go back in a heartbeat. | | swoopjones (190), Buffalo, New York | | November 1, 2011 came in after Cask Days 2011, 1st session. Great atmosphere, comfortable surroundings, Ontario micros, Burger was solid. Cool place & cool neighborhood | | mabel (211), Toronto, Ontario | | July 26, 2011 2011-03. Visited on a Saturday afternoon last March for a pub crawl, and then again on several occasions since then. This is a great little bar near Kensington Market and a great addition to the Toronto beer scene. The bar top itself is a giant slab of wood with the bark still attached, and various other interesting items are scattered about the small but cozy room. Beer selection is fresh and good, they usually have a cask on and other local taps pouring. The food menu is delicious, particularly the chili cheese poutine and the burgers. Would love it if it were my local, but am happy to commute! (5/10/11/10/10/16) 84% | | RC8 (18), Toronto, Ontario | | July 10, 2011 Nice place, warm atmosphere, OK food, good selection of local craft beer. Their own ale is very good, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Great addition to Kensington. | | cratez (100), London, Ontario | | June 7, 2011 Came here for dinner and drinks with my girlfriend in May 2011. Tiny little spot that resembles something in between a pizzeria and deli. Maybe ten tables with a few seats at the bar. The patio was busy on our visit. I ordered the Brunch Burger (fried egg, bacon, maple syrup) and arugula salad; the lady had a custom Cowpoke and fries. Everything tasted fantastic. Our waitress did her best to please us but she was spread way too thin, so they should put on more staff. Food took a while to arrive and at one point I went to the bar to get my brew. However, the beer selection is very good. I saw St. Ambroise Pale Ale, Railway City Roundhaus Pilsner, and Lake of Bays Rousse on tap, a Great Lakes cask, and a number of quality bottles from Southern Tier, Bruton, Dieu du Ciel, Brooklyn, and various Ontario crafters. No Randall when we came. Prices are extremely fair for Toronto (bordering on cheap), as two burgers, two appetizers, and six drinks came to $60 with tip. Overall, Burger Bar really delivers on the food and beer, and I can see why this place is considered an up-and-comer on the T.O. beer scene. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | May 31, 2011 A cool bar on Augusta and College, with a nice terrace in the front (no umbrellas though), a small eating area, and a bar made of one slice of tree. Service is very friendly (and cute), good tap selection (9 taps), nice burger menu, all good. Pleased to discover this place. Excellent flight for 5$ for 4 4 once tastes! | | garthicus (45), Toronto, Ontario | | April 15, 2011 [ Updated March 9, 2012 ] A great addition to Kensington Market and indeed Toronto. Really nice vibe to the place, laid back, family friendly (stroller parking!) and a small but very well thought out rotating tap selection and a cask engine too. Recently they have started brewing their own house beers too. The food is superb, the meat is ground in house. The real food jewel in the crown for me is the Saag Paneer Poutine - it’s superb. All in all a great little place. PS - check out my very own bar stool! | | JoeMcPhee (398), Toronto, ON, Ontario | | April 12, 2011 Finally checked this place out on the first sunny day of spring. Small outdoor seating area with communal picnic tables. The interior is quite dark with some 50s-esque paraphernalia on the walls. Really tasty burgers to be had in here. I had the blue cheese burger and my sister had the six cheeseburger - both of which were juicy and awesome. The tap list is pretty solid as well - I got to try the new Augusta Ale from Kensington Brewing which will eventually be housed in the back of the restaurant, but for now is being brewed out at Black Oak brewing. The service was friendly (if oddly slow at times) and the prices, although a bit high, seemed fair given the quality on offer. A solid spot. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | April 9, 2011 New rising star, in the Kensington market. Though its concentration is food, Rob has made a firm commitment to Ontario craft beer. Always a cask on, tonight something I never saw before, served at the correct temperature. Eight taps, an the server/bartender was a trained gal from Ireland, no tattoos. everyone working hard, in a funky cozy place with a small bar. The patio, though cozy, will come in handy. The Augusta beer was good and is the base to build their own product line on. A few decent bottles as well. This place will have to expand. The scene was laid back and young couples. |
