DeputyAndy (3), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | November 29, 2009 Nice atmosphere. Insanely well stocked bottle shop. The prices are high but the selection balances it. Food is okay, nothing amazing in the least. Staff is very helpful. Taps are rotated weekly and the owner has an email list to notify members on new drafts, new bottles and events.
With big selections of jolly pumpkin, lost abbey, and sometimes russian river, this place can bring in big beers. | | Beerapprentice (11), Hopatcong, New Jersey | | November 14, 2009 Visited this place with my boyfriend Adrian. I think it’s his favourite local bar. I can see why. When I went, the bar wasn’t crowded and had a really nice atmosphere. Tons of TVs do it would be a good place to watch sporting events. The draft list was pretty good and the bottle shop had a good selection but it’s a little pricey. Didn’t get any food but next time I’d like to see what they have and stick around a bit longer. It seems like a nice bar. I’d definitely go back. | goofyone (2), Norristown, does not count - explanation | | October 25, 2009 The bar/restaurant is good, but the place is best known for it’s take-out bottle selection. The food, especially their specials, is very good. Their dining area is okay, but it is very tight and cramped when you walk into the bar from the dining room. That’s pretty much the only negative I can say about this place. They have an okay selection of beers to choose from on tap in the bar/restaurant, but their bottle shop has an amazing selection and some very hard to find beers. The owner was kind enough to let me sample one of the beers they had on tap before I bought it in the bottle take-out shop to see if I’d like it or not. | | jbender (18), Hatboro, Pennsylvania | | October 13, 2009 With a place this high rated only 20 minutes away, I felt that it was a crime that I hadn’t gone here already. Unfortunately I could only go late on a weekday so the bottles shop and restaurant (but not the kitchen) was closed. Walked in and didn’t know what to expect. Bar scene wasn’t exactly eye catching. But when I took a look at the draft list I understood why this place was so acclaimed. Had a good 15 beers that I had never seen on draft before and not one macro beer. Enjoyed three great beers and tasted others that my friend had. We had to laugh when we saw someone drinking a bottle of bud at a place like this. Was slightly expensive (but understandable for the quality beer) and the bar tender was kinda of of it (did not run into matt who I have only seen good things about). My other friend had a meal and said it was good. I definitely want to go there again if I get the chance and check out the bottle shop. | | vtafro (18), , New Jersey | | September 29, 2009 Matt runs a great bar, restaurant and bottle shop. Carries hard to find beers, and the draft list is no slacker. Definitely worth a trip. | | TheCaptain (32), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | August 16, 2009 Nice place with good food and some great variety and selections on tap. The bottle shop is the best and Matt Capone is very helpful and generous. Great place to find some rare beers and hard too find stuff. | | WeeHeavySD (102), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | June 21, 2009 Damn, this place is amazing!!! Went today with my girlfriend, was originally going to meet up with Hopdog, but he couldn’t make it. Great super curtious staff and damn a draft list that is tight and freaking amazing. There was a big group at the other side of the bar being loud and the staff kept making sure we were allright which was cool. Good burger, good mozzarela sticks, GREAT bottle shop, a little pricey on the bottle side, but the selection is impeccable. AWESOME! | | Birdiebeagle (37), Perkasie, Pennsylvania | | June 8, 2009 This is a great place. Matt is a super guy will always look out for his customers. Selection is awesome. Singles are so nice in PA. Had some good retired beers that I didn’t think I would find anywhere. And that’s just the bottle shop. The Resturant has a great tap list and very good food. This is a must for any beer lover in the area. | | JCB (37), Durham, North Carolina | | May 23, 2009 First of all, Matt for the frickin’ win. This guy is really awesome. He was really cool when we emailed back and forth before my trip to town, and was gonna hold some Voodoo and other stuff for me. Amazing selection, in many ways jaw-dropping. Space is fairly small, but they have such an awesome array of brews, not only everything available in PA but tons of stuff that Matt personally retrieves from Pittsburgh and other locations. Tons of taps, didn’t try the food. A top notch location and well worth the trip. | | 41cubs (14), , New Jersey | | May 2, 2009 [ Updated May 18, 2009 ] Utterly ridiculous. Walked in the place and two friendly, "hey there darlin’ what can I get for yuh?" type, female employees greeted me hospitably and showed me the way to the bottle shop around back. Walking into this bottle shop is the beer equivalent of walking into a room full of every girl that you ever wanted to violate, and finding out that they in turn want to violate you as well. My haul included Bells Double Cream, Struise Pannepot, FFF’s Alpha King and Dreadnaught, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, and Hair of the Dog Fred. Bottle shop is definately pricey but it beats paying S+H for internet purchases. Matt at the bottle shop is very welcoming, knowledgable, and accommodating without pressuring you, and if you love the culture he will talk to you as long as you want. Food was good with the onion soup being great. Tap list was outstanding and the following day they were scheduled to have a bourbon aged event where Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout was to be on tap, COME ON NOW!! I’ll |
