There’s a couple of different entities to the Cavern Club with the Cavern Pub across the other side of Matthew Street but all part of the same umbrella, as such you’ll find a similar style and similar drinks in all of them. The Cavern Club is clearly an atmospheric place to be given its history and if you enjoy The Beatles and memorabilia then this will be on your list of places to come whether or not the beer or its selection is any good or not. Once you’re down the several levels below ground around the winding staircase, the bar faces you as you walk in and there’s multiple brick arches throughout room offering different areas to sit and enjoy a drink or the music. The bar itself has a couple of real ale options available including its own specially named beer from a local microbrewery, although whether this is a rebrand or not I am not sure. There was someone playing in here on a Monday lunchtime one time I was here. The Cavern Pub is a similar set-up but only one level underground and serves the same set of drinks. If you’re not in either venue for the musical heritage then unfortunately there’s not a great deal of exciting drinking options.

Puur voor de atmosfeer, niet voor het bier

Worth visiting for the atmosphere, the live music and the Beatles stuff. Some pretty decent beers too, but nothing special.

You come here for the Beatles memorabilia, and not for the beers. However, there are some options in addition to the usually fizzy stuff. Two cask ales are available from Cains (FA) and Black Sheep (Best Bitter). The souvenir Beat Ales on bottle are also brewed by Black Sheep and are not identical with the best bitter on cask. If you are interested in Beatles nostalgia and pop music from the 60s, Cavern is well worth a visit, located right in the middle of Liverpool. We spent about an hour at the club and around the famous Mathew Street before we went to The White Star with the Bowland ales just around the corner (visited, 08.04.2013).

Worth coming here for the history as well as the character of the place. As the previous rater says...you can definitely have some fun here...but it’s not the place to head for if you’re craving fine English craft beers.

Nice place for music. Not any big selection of beer. The one who listed it here must have had a good time there. And you often do that.
