robincurran (1), , does not count - explanation | | July 16, 2011 Bruce, You Rock Man! | chandler0201 (6), Durham, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | May 10, 2011 Went to the one in Elkhart, Indiana. This seems to be a small chain of Total Wine-esque stores, yet they sell liquor as well. I was pleasantly surprised to find two bourbons that are not in my home state ABC stores, but on to the beer. Great selection of Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin brews, 80% of which are not distributed outside of that tri-state area, which was nice. They did a 10% discount on mix 6 packs which also helped. Got to love the great organization and selection, yet not too cramped like many of these specialty stores either. | | TheWife (25), Tampa, Florida | | April 11, 2010 Chalet Party Shoppe is an oasis of beer in a small town. There are multiple stores in close proximity (went to 3 in one day - all about 20 min apart). My favorite is the one of CR 17 (Elkhart) but all have basically the same. If looking for a particular beer, one of the Chalets will most likely have it. | ratmonkey (5), Goshen, Indiana does not count - explanation | | August 13, 2008 Prices are good and the people are very nice and helpful. There are a number of Chalet Party Shoppes in the area and each one has a different feel and selection. The best is probably going to be the C.R. 17 Shoppe in Elkhart, but I shop at all of them. If you are looking for wine but want some help picking a good one, go to C.R. 17.
I would certainly recommend shopping here. | | jcr (14), Jasper, Indiana | | September 21, 2006 Surprising selection for a store that’s not in a large city nor in a city with a college. Six-packs and what looked like a couple hundred or more singles, both domestic and import. Many Michigan and Indiana brewers represented including Three Floyds, Bells, Arcadia, Founders, Upland and more. Plus the more commonly found Colorado, Oregon and California microbrews (Stone, Rogue, Avery, etc.) Prices seemed reasonable — in fact, Dreadnaught was selling for less than at the brewery. | | can8ianben (84), Souderton, Pennsylvania | | September 20, 2006 a very interesting shop. worth checking out for the selection alone, it always seems like there is something there worth checking out. All locations seem recently remodled or new, they look nice. | | SpudClampDawg (43), Jasper, Indiana | | September 18, 2006 What a great find! Well stocked store carries everything from Old Stock Ale to Abbaye de Rocs to St. Bernardus to Dreadnaught. We were really surprised to find such a nice selection in Goshen. Probably about 60-70 six packs available as well - we were there shortly but I saw plenty of Bells, Founders, Dogfishhead among many, many others. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing by. | | illinismitty (275), Nashville, Tennessee | | May 28, 2006 [ Updated June 5, 2006 ] I spent my summers growing up in Syracuse, IN on Lake Wawasee. The area itself has always been a beer wasteland when I make my visits up there. I show up to my uncles and see Bells Porter and Avery IPA in his fridge. He tells me about Chalet and how they have huge selection of beer. Still skeptical, I drive over there. And let me tell you, this store is an oasis in a beer desert. Founders (even Breakfast Stout), Dark Horse, BBC, Stone, Arcadia, Bells, Three Floyds, and even Cantillon and Drie Fontenen! The list goes on. I am just in shock at the selection because of the area, which is all BMC. Definitely worth a visit, especially because some of the limited release stuff will still be on the shelves when the larger markets are sold out. I am not sure if they break sixers. They had some single for sale but those could have been left over from their tastings. There are two locations in town, but this is the one with the beer selection. The other one is more wine oriented. |
