| tjthresh (47), Greenfield, Indiana | | June 17, 2008 My first stop in OBX. You won’t find any rarities here, but you will find everything you need to have a good time during you vacation. Forgot your glass? They have plenty to choose from. Good folks there too. Very helpfull. | | The_Beer_God (88), Newport News, Virginia | | June 15, 2008 Finally got in here on the afternoon of Friday June 13th. Found several beers that I have not been able to find back home. Service was very friendly. Offered up a box when I began to hit the 12 beer region. Picked up around 15 beers for about $54. That would have been much lower were it not for the near $20 Allagash Fluxus I purchased. Everything was reasonable and well laid out. Will definitely go back! | | arventresca (15), Greenville, North Carolina | | April 23, 2008 Mainly a wine shop with a decent beer selection. Beer is separated by style which is nice. Many micros to choose and you can mix and match. | | Butters (64), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee | | February 18, 2008 This is a beer mecca. HUGE selection of great beers. The staff was extremely friendly. I actually talked with the owner, Chip, about drinking at the Green Leafe Cafe in Williamsburg. He then loaded me up with several beers that I had never heard of including one of my alltime favorites, Holy Mackerel. You must buy your beer from here when vacationing at the OBX. | | keepersj12 (10), Sicklerville, New Jersey | | July 11, 2007 About the only place on the Outer Banks for a decent beer. They have a nice selection of craft brews from all around plus a nice selection of locals. They have about 300 singles broken up into styles. The staff is very helpful and friendly. You can get singles, 6 packs or cases. This place is a must for visitors to the Outer Banks. If you’re heading south on 158, it is at the Mile Post 6 Plaza on the right. Look for a big Mile Post 6 sign. | | OldGrowth (104), Cary, North Carolina | | June 18, 2007 Located right by Mile Marker 6 on Rt 158. If you’re coming from the north watch it as it jumps out at the last minute as the entrance is kind of blocked by a sign for another business. Nice looking place. Modern strip mall. As you walk in there is a cooler on your right with chilled wine, beer & champagne. Staff was always asking if there was anything they could do to help. Keep going straight from where you came in and on the right is a wall of singles on the left six packs as well as half of the next aisle. The singles are sorted by style, not brand. Real good selection, wish Cary had this store. Nice mix of things and do have Weeping Radish bottle selection if you don’t have chance to visit them. Solid beer store, other stores I was in had bits & pieces of a beer selection, but Chip’s is a dedicated beer store worth visiting. As an aside there is a good coffee place in the same mall, Front Porch Cafe, Good baked goods and coffee, but I digress... | | argo0 (173), Washington DC | | January 21, 2007 Good beer in the Outer Banks?! Long overdue! Chip provides good service and a solid selection. There weren’t many I hadn’t had, but it’s hard to complain with the excellent selection that included Victory, Duck Rabbit, Dogfish Head, Rogue, and many more. Looks like all the beers are available as singles. A must-stop when you’re on the Outer Banks. | | Kinz (30), Glen Allen, Virginia | | October 8, 2006 Yup, this is a must stop. The Outer Banks has been dying for a place like this in my opinion. Very solid beer selection of some NC stuff that doesn’t make it out of state often, lots of other regional micros, and a solid selection of Belgians. Amongst other little treats, I walked out with a 750 of Rodenbach Grand Cru. Chip and staff were friendly, and if you are into port, they had a very nice selection of that as well in their wine area. You also might want to check out the coffee shop next door, they roast their own beans and put out some good stuff as well. | px2grafx (3), Virginia Beach, Virginia does not count - explanation | | August 14, 2006 stopped in here over the weekend and i was very surprised at the selection. i was expecting maybe 2 or 3 surprises, but i ended up having to narrow down my purchases so that i didn’t go broke in this store. nothing really knocks your socks off, and the stout selection was a little light, but there is a lot of beer here that i can’t get in virginia beach. morimoto impy pilsner, duck rabbit, midas touch, cantillon, fuller’s vintage, ommegang cave aged 3L, chimay v. 2001 3L, nostradamas, mussette, etc. very nice and knowledgeable staff. didn’t get to meet chip, but met his wife. she said they’re looking to expand their inventory, and they already have a nice selection of glasses. lots of wine, sake and other interesting items as well. a must stop in the outer banks. | | brentfeesh (51), Gadsden, Alabama | | June 12, 2006 Nice guy that Chip (owner). I emailed him a question or two before I went their and he replied quickly and pleasantly. Given the beer wasteland everyone had described the Outer Banks to be, I was most pleased with his selection. A great variety of North Carolina brews, along with a solid offering of Belgians and micros from around the US. Chip was easy to talk to and help my wife and I out with several Saki selections for a family dinner. A very nice looking variety of wine as well. Stop by, as I could not find a better place for your alcohol needs in the Outer Banks! | View Page : 1 2
