68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Boudicca (367) London, England | October 14, 2012 A nice little pub in the heart of the Lace Market area.
The Cock and Hoop reputedly has a beer brewed for it by Nottingham Brewery but it wasn’t on when we visited. Instead there were five hand pumps, all with interesting craft brews from elsewhere, and a couple of Freedom beers.
It’s a tiny pub attached to the Lace Market Hotel and it can be entered through there or from the street, opposite the Galleries of Justice. It’s quiet and gentile, with a few battered old armchairs and some benches. Downstairs there’s a large basement room with brick arches (no sandstone caves in sight, unusually for a Nottingham cellar) which I assume is the eating area as it’s billed as a gastropub.
