| Travlr (638), Washington, Washington DC | | February 19, 2012 Recommended by Andrew at Alewife, thank you sir. This place has a massive beer selection, heavy on regionals and locsls, but with a smattering of stuff from all over, including Central America. Staff are friendly, prices are good. What more do you need? | murph3irish (2), Linthicum, Maryland does not count - explanation | | February 15, 2012 This is my beer wonderland! I love this places selection and the fact that you can buy single bottles before you spring for a six pack. The people that work there are very helpful and friendly. | | strongpieman (68), Mount Airy, Maryland | | September 24, 2011 Overall a good place for singles, good selection given the Maryland distribution limitations. Very busy place and aisles a little too narrow to navigate with banging your head a bit. Not as big as other Total Wine stores, a function of the specific location. Beer prices seemed decent although the 10% 6 pack discount disappeared. Service is great... lots of people with knowledge and helpful. No one was condescending when asking for "value" wine selections. Other than the crowding, a great place. | | Ret12 (10), Maryland | | September 5, 2011 When I walked into this place my jaw dropped. They must have over 500 types of beers to choose from to make your own customized 6 packs. Not only is their selection huge but their prices are lower than any other store I’ve been to. | noshoken (6), Maryland does not count - explanation | | August 4, 2011 What I would call a superstore when it comes to beers. Very large store for the area sometimes I can find beers that are available in smaller less stocked stores than I can find here. They have the best on hand selection of keg beers (I look for interesting 1/6th kegs and always have a 1/2 keg of Guinness on tap which I can always rely on being in stock). You can always order anything in a keg that’s available but I like the on hand selection. I don’t know any place else in the area where the keg selection is as good. | | rollingwood (10), Maryland | | March 26, 2011 This place was somewhat disappointing. Fairly large selection, though not necessarily as diverse as one would expect for a store of this size; they tended to carry the most obvious (and available elsewhere) choices for most breweries, as well as the most obvious breweries. Large selection of wines and liquors, and if you like Bud/Miller/Coors this is your place for low, low prices on your 24-packs. The quality beers are fairly well organized in terms of logical order (foreign and domestic separate; alphabetical order in terms of brewery). Their prices are good, I have to admit (for instance, they undercut my usual beer stores by about two dollars on every six-pack or bomber). I left with bombers of Cockeyed Cooper and Smuttynose’s Barley Wine, both reasonably priced.
But here’s the catch of buying in bulk to give me those low prices. The “use by date” of the twelve-pack of Magic Hat #9 I purchased was over two months older than what I buy at my local package store. The Magic Hat I bought at Corridor is obviously not fresh tasting. Magic Hat # 9 at its freshest is delicate and yeasty with subtle apricot notes; in this twelve-pack the hops has gone somewhat bitter and that flavor drowns out the yeast. In short, I won’t be returning. | | themadmumis (11), Westminster, Maryland | | February 12, 2011 Wow, this place is intense. Contrary to previous ratings from years ago, Corridor Wine has really amped up their game in the beer market. Approx. 400+ beer selctions from Trappist, Belgian, imports from around the world, and a solid selction of micros from across the USA including new, multiple selctions of Black IPAs. Beer displays are infused into endcaps and the aisles of wines, plus a beer tasting amongst the wine tastings this afternoon! Prices were, by far, the lowest (Chimay Grande Reserve 750 mL $11.99, Dogfishead 60 min 6-pk $7.49, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6-pk $6.99) in the area. Downfall was that all beer sections weren’t ’faced’ or ’zoned’ causing me to look and search to see if product was in-stock; look dishelveled and too well shopped. Decent cigar, liquor, and premium sections and gigantic wine selection. A dominant operation- | | desurfer (94), Melbourne, Florida | | February 5, 2011 It’s a Total Wine store in everything but name, down to the decor. Solid selection and pretty good prices. Good place to go if you’re local but probably not something you’d want to go too far out of the way for. | CSPDrvR (3), , Maryland does not count - explanation | | February 13, 2010 Large Store Large selection of Beer Wine and Bourbon. And a bunch of other stuff. They card everyone even 80 year olds!
Been out of Fullers London Porter for a while | | Cobra (23), In a van, down by the river, Maryland | | March 2, 2008 Another liquor store that was bought out by the Total Wine company. Huge warehouse, selling mostly BMC, but it has a somewhat decent selection of micros. No help, staff is clueless.
OK to shop for once or twice, but their beer selection leaves a lot to be desired. |
